Lee; Mr. Heron; Mr. Fletcher; Ryan Smith

Ryan Smith (Life Scout/Eagle Candidate)  Ryan proposed a project to collect 45 pairs of pajama pants for Blue Star Mothers, who donate items to wounded soldiers overseas.  The project will include making an appeal for money to purchase the pants; on average, the pants will cost $15 each.  The committee approved the project contingent upon revisions and additions.

November minutes were approved.

Mr. Cannon (Treasurer’s Report)  No major changes since last month.

Jacob Cathcart (Senior Patrol Leader)  Several adults from Webelo Woods said they would like to visit the troop. Jacob recommends follow-up, including invitations. Perhaps boys could be invited to spend a day or night with the troop.

Mr. Lee (Scoutmaster)  The troop is prepared for the Mid-Carolina Gun Club campout. The food has been purchased, and the schedule has been finalized. $10 per person for food is due tomorrow. An extra round of ammunition can be purchased for $10. Dutch Fork Middle School team 82 has a field trip on Friday, so C. Murray will arrive early on Saturday.  The troop continues to work on the A. Jordan Eagle Scout issue. His parents notified the council office that our troop refused to accommodate him in getting his Eagle. A. Jordan is a former member of the troop who has been inactive for more than two years. He turns 18 in April, and still needs four Eagle-required badges and leadership/participation. Mr. Griffin is working with him.

Mr. Clamp (Chaplain)  Mr. Clamp recommends developing procedures and a template for conducting review boards with scouts who attend infrequently or have stopped coming for a period of time.  In general, we need to define and communicate with all scouts what constitutes “being active in the troop”.  Mr. Lee said that this is done at PLC.

Mr. Law (Advancements)  Court of Honor is tomorrow night.  Mr. Law asked for an update on Philmont and Camp Rainey Mountain. Mr. Croom  Mr. Croom mentioned that the fee for Camp Rainey Mountain has gone up $5, from $265 to $270. He will announce it at the Court of Honor tomorrow.  The troop did not have enough scouts interested in Philmont to plan a trip. However, Mr. Croom believes that spots would be readily available if a scout decided he wanted to go.

Mr. Barnes (Eagle/OA)  Timmy Lee has completed his Eagle project, and needs two badges. Mock boards and boards are coming up for Matt Short and Chris Blanchette.  There may be a Life-to-Eagle session during the first weekend of winter break.  Mr. Barnes will do a Jamboree presentation for 2013 during elections. The Jamboree will be high adventure and will be less expensive than usual.

Mr. McGregor (Webmaster)  Mr. McGregor added a link on our website to “follow us” on Facebook. If a site user clicks on “like”, s/he will get updates and photos.  A $50 deposit for the Washington, DC trip is due on December 6.  Mr. Barnes suggested some activities for the DC trip; they are free and require a 10- minute walk. Mr. McGregor will determine if there is a safe way to walk to those activities.

Mr. Bebber (Outdoor Activities)  The Gun Club campout is November 11 - 13.  The Kings Mountain campout is December 9 - 11.  The Knox Scout Reservation trip is January 27 – 29. Pioneering, lashings and tower building are planned.  The Camp McCrady campout will be in February.
