PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL - February18th & February 19th

Presider: The Lord our God is merciful and gracious, and will always hear the prayers that we offer up on behalf of the world around us.… as we cry out, Lord hear our prayer...

Lector: 1. That the Church might be a model of forgiveness and reconciliation for the world to follow...

For world leaders and diplomats, as they strive to work together toward easing international tensions and creating lasting peace…

For all who have been abused or oppressed, that they may know justice ad relief, and yet be able to live mercifully toward others…

For parents, as they instill in their children the values of fairness, mercy, and forgiveness …

For all who seek the comfort of God’s healing word; and for the intentions in our parish book ...We pray.

2. For our brothers and sisters who are ill: Julie O’ Connel, Maria Arlia, Andy Yeo, David Greenwell, Margaret Vissat, Olga Mairera, Joanne Luccarelli, Tallulah Woitach, John Martinek, Laurel Hessing, Bill Bradley, Ed Litton, Laura Moore Brown, Marguerite LaMarque, Bob Cerf, John Palazza and for all those wounded in the service of our country, (PAUSE) that they be patient in their time of suffering and soon come to the fullness of health.... we pray....

Romeo Valenzuela in whose memory the Bread and Wine for the celebration of the Eucharist have been offered… Rev. Msgr. Thomas F. Sanlon, Carmen Maisonet, Ines Martinez, Dominguez, Dinah Snyder, Maria Fernandes Oliveira, Charles Ruffin, Jr., Debra McClimans who died during this past week… Roshika Fernando, Scott Coates, Anne Delaney whose anniversary of death is celebrated this week… Those who lost their lives through violence across our nation …and all the victims of war and terrorism (PAUSE) that they may rest forever in the embrace of the one true God, we pray....

4. And let us pause now to present our own personal petitions... (PAUSE ....count to 10)...... We are still a nation at war, let us pray for our president, all our locally and nationally elected officials, government and agency employees, the members of our diplomatic corps (core) and all those who serve our country in our uniformed services..... may their efforts for peace and justice be fruitful;..... together, let us raise our voices in a prayer for true and lasting peace...... the words are found on the back cover of the hymnal...

Presider: God of love, you challenge us to the hard work of love and forgiveness in all our relationships. Give us the grace to imitate your Son in all that we do, through the same Christ our Lord.
