Essex SS3 OEJ Fax: 01702 216068 www.greatwakering.essex.sch.uk [email protected] Chair: Mrs Margo Champion Treasurer: Mrs Claire Friend Who are we? The PTA is a charity run by parents and staff who aim to raise funds for the school whilst having fun. As a new parent at Great Wakering Primary, you automatically become a member of the PTA. Don’t worry, we promise that all the ‘scary’ jobs are already filled, but we are hoping to find extra hands to help us raise much-needed funds for our children.

What do we do, why do we do it and who benefits? We meet regularly to discuss ways we can raise new funds and we are always open to new ideas. In the past, we’ve raised thousands of pounds by running events such as our Christmas & Summer Fairs, Discos, Pamper Evenings and cake sales and used this money to fund items like the following for our school:  Playground equipment  Bike sheds  Library improvements  Wildlife area/story telling chair  Learning activities and games  Hall staging, PA system and chairs

What are we hoping to achieve next? Each year, the schools give us a wish list that we consider as a group. This year they’ve asked for:  Help towards repairing the school’s swimming pool

What kind of help do we need? We would love you to get involved in our school and there are lots of ways you can help and support your child through the PTA. Offering to help before events or at other times during the year is so valuable. It doesn’t matter if you can’t help on a regular basis, or even if you cannot come into school. There are always jobs that can be done from home if you have half an hour to spare e.g. wrapping gifts, preparing raffle tickets etc. We really couldn’t achieve what we do without the behind the scenes help that we receive. Ultimately the events we run are extremely rewarding, good fun and very social!

Overleaf, we’ve compiled some of the areas we would love extra help with. Please fill it in and return it to the school office at your earliest convenience. Are you fully committed at the moment?

We fully appreciate how precious your time is and for those who may not be able to commit to helping out at school events, perhaps you would like to show your support in other ways:

 Become a member of our new 100 Club This is a new monthly lottery scheme the PTA is using to raise funds for the school. Full details are attached. To apply, please complete and return the attached application forms to the school office ASAP to avoid disappointment!

 Company Fund Matching Many companies offer a gift matching scheme, where they will match funds raised at an event. Each company has their own structure for this but if you could ask your HR department as a starter then we can help you with the rest! Volunteering for the PTA

This questionnaire in no way commits you to any specific task however if you would like to contribute your time and talent, please tick your areas of interest and return this sheet to the school office.
