Coach Aliyy was inducted into the Florida State Basketball Hall of Fame (2007), drafted into the NBA by the BOSTON CELTICS as well as the ABA-NEW YORK NETS (1971), won FAMU D.R.S. 1ST Class A State Championship as a first year head coach (2004), and had a repeat appearances to State Final Four (2005 State Runner-Up, 2009 State Runner-Up, 2011). He recently collected his 200th Win as head coach on Senior Night of this year’s last regular season game.

Current Team G.P.A. is a 3.0 plus and has been a standard of Famu D.R.S. Girls Basketball the past 9 years.

The Lady Baby Rattlers are led by the team’s Floor General and Team Captain – Milan Clayton. As one of the most cerebral point guards to ever play in the Big Bend area and 3-time Tallahassee Democrat All Big Bend Selection, she leads the team in assists with over a 170 total and is ranked #1 in the Big Bend in that category. She is second on the team in steals with over 80 total. Milan previously won a State Championship as a member of 2007-2008 North Florida Christian team as a 8th grader. Milan displays the same discipline off the court in her studies, and has begun taking college courses through dual enrollment at Florida A&M University, where she has signed to play for LeDawn Gibson and the Lady Rattlers.

The reining Tallahassee Democrat Big Bend Player of the Year and member of the 2011 Florida Association of Basketball Coaches (FABC) All-State Team as a Freshman, LaKaris Salter continues to command the interior for the Lady Baby Rattlers and makes her presence known offensively with the ability to stretch defenses with her perimeter touch. Defensively, she patrols the paint with her ability to rebound as well as either block or alter shots around the basket. She has been a member of the Varsity basketball team since the 7 th Grade. Currently as a Sophomore, LaKaris is averaging a double-double, she has scored double digits points in 26 of 27 games played, had 16 games of 10+ rebounds, has blocked 3+ shots in 14 games played, and has 3+ steals in 11 games played. She is progressively making her mark of becoming one of the better players in the school’s history.

Jazmine Jones continues to raise eyebrows with her athleticism as such a young player for the Lady Baby Rattlers. Selected as a member of the Tallahassee Democrat 3rd Team All Big Bend last year, Jazmine has set out to prove that she is worthy of more. Possessed with unlimited ability, uncanny skills to drive the ball to the basket, and soar through the air makes her as exciting to watch as any collegiate or professional basketball player. As a 8th grader and 2nd year member of the Varsity basketball team, she has scored double digits points and pull down 6+ rebounds in 19 of 27 games played, has 3+ assists in 14 games, has 3+ steals in 16 games, and has manage to obtain a double-double in 7 games played. Just recently in Regional Quarterfinal play, Jazmine recorded her 1st career Triple-Double and was 3 assists shy of a Quadruple-Double. She also is continuing to lay her foundation of becoming one of the better players in the school’s history.

JaNyia McNealy in her 2nd year as a Freshman for the Lady Baby Rattlers, brings perimeter shooting, defense, a since of mental and physical toughness. She scored a career high 26 points versus rival Rickards Raiders in a game earlier this season. She was voted Tallahassee Democrat Big Bend Honorable Mention last year.

Cherrise Leon, as a Sophomore and relatively new to the sport of basketball, continues to improve as a aggressive post defender and rebounder increasing her season totals to 152. She is an exceptional athlete and idea role player for the Lady Baby Rattlers as she continues to learn and develop.

The Remaining 5 players – Courtney Washington, Aaliyah Barrington, Cayla Pennywell, Kiani Sims, Katelyn Stevens, and Mikala Williams make up the 11 woman team, each bringing their own individual contributions in helping the team gel into one cohesive group.

19 former players are currently enrolled in college, some by way of a basketball or academic scholarships or have graduated college.

Jessica Hall (former player) of the 2004 Class 1A State Championship team has earned her Master’s Degree from University of Central Florida where she played as a graduate student. She played and received her undergraduate degree from University of Memphis. Currently she serves Director of Basketball Operation at University of South Alabama. She scored 41 points in that Class 1A State Championship game and was named Tournament MVP.

Brittany Hudson (former player) of the 2004 State Championship team, played and has graduated from Valdosta State University and currently playing in Europe.

Lesheria Stevens (former player) of the 2004 State Championship team and 2005 State Runner-Up team, played and graduated from Clayton State University (GA). She played 2 years prior at Chipola Community College (FL), earning numerous player of the week awards.

Nadirah Gardner (former player) of the 2004 State Championship team and 2005 State Runner-Up team, played and has graduated from Georgia Southwestern State University. She played 1 year prior at Gulf Coast Community College (FL).

Aleeka Robinson (former player) of the 2004 State Championship team and 2005 State Runner-Up team has graduated from Florida State University with her Master’s Degree in Sports Management. Volunteered as a manager with FSU Women’s Basketball Team.

Keishara Green (former player) of the 2004 State Championship team as well as the 2005 and 2009 Runner-Up teams is currently playing for Saint Leo University (FL).

Erika Collins (former player) of the 2005 and 2009 State Runner-Up teams recently earned her 2nd National MVP Honor as a member of the 2011-2012 and 2010-2011 collegiate girls’ flag football national champions respectively, Florida A&M University.

Valerie Leland (former player) of the 2009 Runner-Up team is currently playing for Trinity Baptist College (FL). She scored a total of 42 points and totaled 21 rebounds in the Class 1A State Final Four that year. She was a Florida Class 1A All-State Team Candidate that year.
