WEDNESDAY, JULY 13, 2011

7:45 a.m. – Breakfast 8:30 a.m.

8:30 a.m. – Welcome and overview of agenda 8:45 a.m.

8:45 a.m. – Small group report preparation: Task force members will reconvene in their 10:15 a.m. working groups. Each group will identify their top three recommendations and answer the following questions for each one:

o What needs to be in place for this to be accomplished in the policy arena? o What needs to be in place for this to be accomplished through a systemwide effort? o What needs to be in place for this to be accomplished in the college or district level? o How would this concept be financed? o If we do this, how will we know if we’ve succeeded?

10:15 a.m. – Break 10:30 a.m.

10:30 a.m. – Presentation & discussion: Student Services and Support 11:30 a.m. The working group will take 15 minutes to explain their main recommendations and answers to the questions. This will be followed by a deep task force discussion: Do you agree with these recommendations? What are your concerns? What ideas would you want to be sure were included as part of this recommendation? What is most important about it?

11:30 a.m. – Presentation & discussion: Basic Skills 12:30 p.m.

12:30 p.m. – Lunch 1:00 p.m. 1:00 p.m. – Presentation & discussion: Systemwide Organization and Data 2:00 p.m.

2:00 p.m. – Presentation & discussion: Financing Policy 3:00 p.m.

3:00 p.m. – Break 3:30 p.m.

3:30 p.m. – Synthesize recommendations 4:30 p.m. The task force will review the major ideas that came from the working groups and discuss how these concepts fit together.

4:30 p.m - Adjourn

THURSDAY, JULY 14, 2011

7:45 a.m. – Breakfast 8:30 a.m.

8:30 a.m. – Agenda review and check in – How would you answer the dinner assignment 9:30 a.m. question?

9:30 am. – From recommendations to action 10:30 a.m. What funding, leadership, and support structures are needed to ensure these recommendations are acted upon? How could we encourage colleges to apply some of the ideas surfaced by this group as they assess priorities over the coming year?

10:30 a.m. - Break 11:00 a.m.

11:00 a.m. – Relating recommendations to financing 12:00 p.m. The task force will discuss how these recommendations could be realistically financed given the existing level of funding. What guidance can we provide to the legislature about changes to funding formulas? What will the advice be on performance based funding?

12:00 p.m. – Lunch 12:30 p.m. 12:30 p.m. – Outcome measures 1:30 p.m. The task force will return to the outcome measures identified at prior meetings and determine if these adequately capture improvements related to recommendations.

1:30 p.m. – Review of refinements to document, final tweaks 2:30 p.m

2:30 p.m. - Break 3:00p.m.

3:00 p.m. – Using the public comment period to strengthen recommendations 3:45 p.m Are there concepts that need to be reviewed by specific constituencies? How can we use this process to make the ideas stronger rather than having them be eroded?

3:45 p.m. - Next steps 4:00 p.m Discuss next steps for Chancellor’s Office staff to flesh out recommendations and the meeting agenda for the August 16-17, 2011 meeting.
