The man of this communnity realized the seriousness of the event as saw by their demeanor as they waited for the lottery to begin. “…their jokes were quiet and they smiled rather than laughed.” (131) It did not control they’re hole day however because they had to be call in from work and woud have lunch in only a few hours after the actual draw.
