Natural Habitats Unit Project
1. Choose one of the land or aquatic biomes. a. Please provide a brief description of your biome. i. Amount of precipitation, average temps etc. ii. Where it is in the world (country, continent, etc.) b. You will list 3 plants and 3 animals of your biome, using specific names. i. i.e. oak tree (not tree), gila monster (not lizard), sea bass (not fish)
2. Agriculture is used in many ways; explain how the inhabitants of your biome use it to sustain their communities. a. i.e. Do they do large scale or small scale farming? Do they sell their goods or is it for personal/family use?
3. Describe all of the ways that pollution affects both the abiotic and biotic factors in your biome. a. You will need to first list the abiotic and biotic factors that are in your biome. b. You will then need to describe how pollution affects the factors. i. i.e. air pollution, water pollution (fresh/marine), soil pollution
4. Detail how succession (secondary) would take place in your biome.
5. You will then create a brochure to showcase the information on you have collected. You need to be creative, using pictures, graphs/charts, etc. Your brochure should be in short notes (bullet points) not sentences or paragraphs.
