PUBLIC MEETING MINUTES: Board of Massage and Bodywork Workshop

MEETING DATE AND TIME: Thursday, November 15, 2007 at 11:00 a.m.

CALL TO ORDER Mr. Carey called the meeting to order at 11:25 a.m.

REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES Ms. Langston made a motion, seconded by Ms. Stehle, to accept the October 18, 2007 meeting minutes as presented. The motion was unanimously carried.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS Physician’s Referrals Ms. Bryner stated that the verbiage in section 5307 should be clearer as to what practitioners can and cannot accept as a doctor referral and medically diagnosed condition. The Board tabled their discussion until the January meeting.

The Board discussed modalities and how they could clarify sections of the Rules and Regulations and the law, specifically sections 5302.6 of the Delaware Code and 1.0 of the Rules and Regulations and how legislation plays a role in the decision making process. The Board also discussed the elimination of the Technician tier and setting a timeline to have this done by. Mr. Spizzirri said he will work on drafting amendments and changes for the areas of the Rules and Regulations and the law that the Board has concerns about and he will be present them to the Board at the next Workshop.

CORRESPONDENCE The Board briefly reviewed the research materials from ARCB and from David Patterson regarding Reflexology but will discuss in greater length in future workshops.

The Board was given the information regarding FSMTB and their database project for informational purposes only.

PUBLIC COMMENT There was no public comment.

NEXT SCHEDULED MEETING The next Workshop is unscheduled.

ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, a motion was made by Ms. Langston, seconded by Ms. Stehle , to adjourn the meeting at 1:05 p.m.. The motion was unanimously carried.
