welcome to DINGWALL & STRATHPEFFER free church God calls us to delight in Christ and to share His Hope. Designated Scottish Charity: SC011143 - www.deep-river.co.uk Sunday 6th May 2012 “You are not under law, but under grace.” Rom. 6:14

Welcome to our worship. The minister will conduct a Communion Service at 11 am and Evening service at 6 pm. Tea and coffee is served after morning service. Young people leave for Sunday School and Bible Class after the second singing. Explore Bible reading Notes for April to June are available (£3). Congratulations to Nia and Iain Fraser (Nottingham and Strathconon), who have a lovely baby boy Owen John, born on Good Friday, a brother for Daniel and Isaac. A GUIDE TO COMMUNION Jesus shared a final Passover meal with his followers on the evening before His death on the cross. He transformed the Passover into Communion, commanding the church to regularly share in this memorial meal as a way to remember His death for us. In Communion we use bread and wine as reminders of Jesus’ body and blood. By our eating we symbolise our trust in Jesus and our longing to take him as our Lord and feed on Him and his Word. In our refurbished church building we serve the bread and wine to all those seated downstairs. Those not taking part in communion are asked simply to pass the bread and wine along the row to those seated nearby. The Bible tells us to examine our life before we share in communion (1 Cor. 11:28). If you are a Christian (that is someone who trusts in Jesus) then this memorial meal is for you. It will strengthen your faith. If you are not yet a Christian you first need to find a living faith in Jesus. Ask Him to become your Saviour. Our sins are never a reason to stay away from the Lord, or from Communion. Instead we are invited to turn from our sins to Jesus: a process the Bible calls repentance. Those who repent find peace with God and so should come thankfully to share in communion. All Christians visiting our congregation are welcome to share with us in communion. Anyone wishing to come into membership is asked to speak to the minister, an elder or the welcome team.

LIVE STREAMING OF SERVICES / OTHER MINISTRY NEEDS We now have a telephone line and broadband connection to the new church office. We hope that the sick and the housebound will be able to join our services using the telephone or internet. If you or someone that you know would like to use the live telephone service please give us your contact details using the contact form on the back page. We plan to develop the audio-technical area at the back of the church to enable the control of data- screens, our website, and to supervise audio and video recording. Our plans require several additional helpers for tasks such as producing newsletters, running PowerPoint, operating video cameras, duplicating CDs and DVDs and working with our website. It would be especially good to involve young people in several of those ministries including the technology tasks. If you would like to discuss your involvement in these or any other aspect of church life please speak to the minister or an elder or use the contact form. How deep the Father’s love for us How deep the Father’s love for us It was my sin that held Him there How vast beyond all measure, Until it was accomplished; That He should give His only Son His dying breath has brought me life – To make a wretch His treasure. I know that it is finished. How great the pain of searing loss – The Father turns His face away, I will not boast in anything, As wounds which mar the Chosen One No gifts, no power, no wisdom; Bring many sons to glory. But I will boast in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection. Behold the man upon a cross, Why should I gain from His reward? My sin upon His shoulders; I cannot give an answer; Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice But this I know with all my heart – Call out among the scoffers. His wounds have paid my ransom. Version of Psalm 22 by Brian Foley Why, God, have you forsaken me— They only wait to see me die; more distant now, the more I cry? they share my clothing in a game! Must I, alone, unanswered, go like one unloved, alone to die? My hands and feet they bind to wound; my bones they number, and each breath, Our fathers, when they prayed to you until with burning thirst I taste in every need, in every prayer, the bitter agony of death! were heard by you and saved by you, (longer rest) and never doubted that you care! My God, I trust you, trust you still— But now my people turn on me, be near, be near to hear my prayer! with hate, not pity, in their eyes; I know that all who hope in you and all who see me, see in me are safe in death from death’s despair. no man, a worm that they despise! (short rest) Then I and all who live for you, this day and till the end of days, ‘Let God deliver him,’ they say, will tell of ever-answered prayer, ‘His God would save him, was his claim!’ and pray this world’s most thankful praise! Words Brian Foley © Praise Trust 2000, LM, Soldau My heart is filled with thankfulness

My heart is filled with thankfulness With pow'r upon my heart. To Him who bore my pain; Who plumbed the depths of my disgrace My heart is filled with thankfulness And gave me life again; To Him who walks beside; Who crushed my curse of sinfulness Who floods my weaknesses with strength And clothed me in His light And causes fears to fly; And wrote His law of righteousness Whose ev'ry promise is enough For ev'ry step I take, Whose ev'ry thought is love. Sustaining me with arms of love For ev'ry day I have on earth And crowning me with grace. Is given by the King; So I will give my life, my all, My heart is filled with thankfulness To love and follow him. To him who reigns above, Whose wisdom is my perfect peace, Keith Getty/Stuart Townend© 2003 Thankyou Music
