Dear Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency,

I am writing to you today to express my support for Pacific NorthWest LNG.

As a Canadian, I am interested in seeing our country develop and create market access for our precious natural resources, in an environmentally sensitive manner, for the benefit of all citizens. I am encouraged by the commitment Pacific NorthWest LNG has shown to developing an environmentally responsible project and their willingness to incorporate feedback from the local community and First Nations into the design of the facility. I believe we can have responsible industrial development that maintains the integrity of the environment.

Developing the LNG industry in Canada is a major opportunity that can provide jobs across a multitude of sectors and a lasting legacy of economic benefits for Canadians for generations to come. Both Progress Energy and Pacific NorthWest LNG are already creating economic benefits in BC and Alberta. Once operational PNW LNG will directly employ up to 330 people. Progress Energy would create and sustain approximately 2,800 jobs to provide the facility with natural gas. That is not including the thousands of construction jobs building the facility, and indirect jobs that will support the facility during operations. When operational, the plants could provide new revenues to all levels of government that may well run into the billions every year. That’s new revenue that will help pay for health care, education and social programs. As Canadian citizen, I recognize the economic benefit this project would bring to Canada.

I am asking the Government of Canada to approve Pacific NorthWest LNG’s environmental certificate.

Sincerely,

Karen Laidlaw BC
