[617-1] 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A BILL 10 11 TO AMEND CHAPTER 3, TITLE 56 OF THE 1976 CODE, BY 12 ADDING ARTICLE 140, TO PROVIDE THAT THE 13 DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES SHALL ISSUE 14 “UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA 2017 WOMEN’S 15 BASKETBALL NATIONAL CHAMPIONS” SPECIAL 16 LICENSE PLATES. 17 18 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South 19 Carolina: 20 21 SECTION 1. Chapter 3, Title 56 of the 1976 Code is amended by 22 adding: 23 24 “ARTICLE 140 25 26 ‘University of South Carolina 2017 Women’s Basketball 27 National Champions’ Special License Plates 28 29 Section 56314010. (A) The Department of Motor Vehicles 30 shall issue ‘University of South Carolina 2017 Women’s 31 Basketball National Champions’ special license plates to owners of 32 private passenger motor vehicles, as defined in Section 563630, or 33 motorcycles as defined in Section 56320, registered in their names. 34 (B) The University of South Carolina may submit to the 35 department for its approval the emblem, seal, or other symbol it 36 desires to be used for its respective special license plate. 37 (C) The requirements for production, collection, and 38 distribution of fees for the plate are those set forth in Section 39 5638100. The biennial fee for this plate is the regular registration 40 fee set forth in Article 5, Chapter 3 of this title plus an additional 41 fee of seventy dollars. Any portion of the additional seventydollar 42 fee not set aside to defray costs of production and distribution must

[617] 2 1 be distributed to the fund established for the University of South 2 Carolina pursuant to Section 5633710(B) used for the purposes 3 provided in that section. 4 (D) License number ‘1’ for the ‘University of South Carolina 5 2017 Women’s Basketball National Champions’ license plate is 6 reserved for the University of South Carolina Women’s Basketball 7 Coach.” 8 9 SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the 10 Governor. 11 XX 12
