COMP Cams® Dominates The Rolex 24 At Daytona

Memphis, TN – COMP Cams® manufactures some of the world’s best-performing camshafts that are also designed to provide the utmost in durability. They were recently put to the test on one of racing’s biggest stages, and came away with all four class wins during the Rolex 24.

There is no better place to test a company’s racing mettle than at the World Center of Racing – Daytona International Speedway. Each year the track’s Rolex 24 pushes drivers, teams and engines to the absolute limit. In 2015 COMP Cams ® camshafts proved their worth by scoring a rare grand slam.

In the Prototype class, the No. 2 Ford EcoBoost Chip Ganassi Racing entry dominated the day en route to the overall victory. The vehicle is powered by Roush Yates Engines. This EcoBoost power plant was built by IMSA Program Manager John Maddox and the Roush Yates Engine team utilizing COMP® camshafts. In the GT Le Mans category, the No. 3 factory Chevrolet Corvette C7.R team took home the class win with an engine developed by David Henninger. COMP Cams® grinds the camshafts that power each factory Corvette racing engine. The No. 52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports team then won the Prototype Challenge class with a GM LS3 built by Katech Engines. It features a valve train package developed by Kevin Pranger and COMP Cams®. Finally, the independent No. 93 Riley Motorsports Dodge Viper SRT took home the checkered flag in the GT Daytona class with a COMP®-equipped engine built by Lee Carducci of Arrow Racing Engines.

“It’s a great source of pride for us to have our camshafts win four different classes in engines from each of the Big Three automakers,” said Billy Godbold, COMP Cams® Valve Train Engineering Group Manager. “This year’s Rolex 24 not only showcased the performance and durability of our camshafts, but also the broad scope and depth of our racing program.”
