Appendix 1-4 Board’s Requirements For Vending Services
1. One snack vending machine
80% of snacks meeting the “healthy” criteria listed below. No more than 35% calories from fat (nuts exempt from fat restriction) Contains no more than 10% saturated fat Contains zero grams of trans fat Have no more than 400mg of sodium Contains no more than 35% sugar by weight
20% of snacks will be exempt from all criteria except for trans fat limitation.
2. One bottled soft drink beverage machine consisting of Pepsi and Coke products 100% juice products Sports drinks and diet soda with no more than 100 calories Bottled water 12oz serving size (except water)
3. Monitoring vending selections: The successful proposer will utilize the vending machine requirements to evaluate snacks and beverages. A Board of Health representative will monitor the contents of the vending machines and notify the successful proposer if a vending machine item does not meet designated guidelines. At that time, the successful proposer must switch the products with snacks that meet the healthy criteria stated above.
4. The Board of Health shall receive zero percent of the proceeds derived from the operation of the vending machines.
