Class b networks | Hailey White

Objective:

Complete the exercises for subnetting a Class B Address. For each exercise, answer the 5 following questions: 1. How many subnets does the chosen subnet produce? -The chosen subnet produces the number “2” to the power of the bits are chosen. 1. How many valid hosts per subnet are available? -To find the hosts, you take the number “two”, and you get the number of bits that are turned off, and use that as you exponents 2. What are the valid subnets? - The valid subnets are the subnets that are in class c. 3. What are the valid hosts in each subnet? -The valid subnets are the ones that don’t end with the exact number of a multiple of the selected bit. 4. What’s the broadcast address of each subnet? -The broadcast address of the subnets are the next subnet, subtracted by 1. Keys:

1. Use the reviewed formulas to answer questions 1 & 2.

2. Expand the tables below if additional subnets are required. Class b networks | Hailey White
