“Cuckoo in the Nest” Shop Window Competition

AboutMyArea EN9 are proud to launch their new community competition initiative “Cuckoo in the Nest”. It is an opportunity for selected local shops to be included in a competition to increase footfall in Waltham Abbey Town Centre during school half term week – Saturday 23rd to Sunday 31st October 2010.

The shop, trader or cafe must put an “unusual” item in their window, hence the competition title of “Cuckoo in the Nest”. Something that would not normally feature in their window, so the people participating in the competition can spot it. It must be clearly visible and remain in the shop window for the full 9 days of the competition period.

Each participating shop or cafe pays £20.00 to be included in the competition. It is free to everyone taking part.

The winner of the competition will receive £100 worth of vouchers (split into £10 x 10 vouchers) presented by Cllr Ricki Gadsby, Mayor of Waltham Abbey to be redeemed in the shops and cafes participating in this competition.

The Mayor’s Charity of the Year Abbeyfield Care Home will receive a donation from total sum raised minus competition prize and administration expenses.

All the shops, traders and cafes participating will be included in promotional advertising and on the AboutMyArea EN9 website.

The competition is supported by Waltham Abbey Town Council, Waltham Abbey Town Partnership, Waltham Abbey Library and the Epping Forest District Museum.

The competition details will feature in local newspapers, schools, scouting groups and youth clubs will be given competition entry forms, Epping Forest District Museum and Waltham Abbey Library will also have entry forms and will of course be advertised on the AboutMyArea EN9 website.

The number of shops and cafes is limited, so don’t miss this opportunity to increase the number of customers to your shop or cafe in half term week.

Spot the “unusual” item in the window during half term week and have the chance to WIN £100!

AboutMyArea EN9 Website are proud to announce the return of their “Cuckoo in the Nest” competition.

Open to all ages, free and easy to enter just see if you can spot the “unusual” items in the Waltham Abbey Town Centre shop window displays.

The competition runs from Saturday 23rd to Sunday 31st October 2010 inclusive.

The winner will receive £100 worth of vouchers that can be redeemed at shops taking part in this competition.

Visit all the participating shops and cafe on the list overleaf, write down the “Cuckoo in the Nest” item next to the name of the shop. Complete your contact details and put in your completed form in the gold entry box at: Waltham Abbey Library, Epping Forest District Museum or Tourist Information Centre or email your answers to: [email protected] by Tuesday 2nd November 2010.

The winner will be drawn at random from the entries with all the correct answers.

Entries received from children under 18 years old must be accompanied by a Parent or Guardian’s signature in the area below.

The winner agrees to take part in promotional photography and press activity around this event. The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

This competition has raised funds from the participating shops for Mayor’s Charity Abbeyfield Care Home.
