POLITICAL CARTOON ASSIGNMENT

This is your opportunity to show what you have learned. You have a few options as to how you want to do this. You may choose whichever option below seems easiest to you. You may:

(1)Draw ONE original editorial cartoon in which you CLEARLY and EFFECTIVELY use ALL FOUR artistic methods.

(2)Draw TWO original editorial cartoons. In each cartoon, use AT LEAST TWO DIFFERENT artistic methods so that EACH of the FOUR methods is used CLEARLY and EFFECTIVELY somewhere in one of the cartoons.

(3)Draw FOUR original editorial cartoons. In each cartoon CLEARLY and EFFECTIVELY use A DIFFERENT ONE of the FOUR artistic methods we have studied.

Regardless of which option you choose, please follow all of the following directions:

(1) Choose from the following list of topics. Each original editorial cartoon MUST address at least ONE of these topics:  The environment  The economy  The Congress  US actions in Afghanistan or Syria  Healthcare reform (2) Use ALL FOUR of the artistic methods CLEARLY and EFFECTIVELY. Each original editorial cartoon MUST use AT LEAST ONE of the methods in addressing the topic you have chosen. (3) Draw each cartoon on a SEPARATE 5”x7” note card. (4) Use #2 PENCIL or BLACK INK to draw your cartoon(s). (5) COLOR your cartoon(s). Use COLORED PENCILS ONLY. (6) On the back of EACH cartoon write a detailed 5-8 sentence paragraph in which you explain WHAT you drew, WHY you drew it, and HOW your cartoon CLEARLY and EFFECTIVELY uses one or more of the four artistic methods we have studied to communicate your opinions about the topic of your cartoon. (7) Put a complete, proper heading in the upper right-hand corner of the BACK of EACH of your cartoons. (8) PROOFREAD your work and fix and mistakes so that your work is error-free. (9) Make sure all images, ideas, and words are your own original work!
