2. Catalog Description: Third clinical experience. Supervised application of laboratory skills at affiliated hospitals or health-care agencies. The student learns to function competently in a variety of laboratory areas. A liability insurance fee is required.

Minimum Grade Required 3. Prerequisites: MLT 220 C

Corequisites: MLT 234, 236 C

Other: Enrollment in this course is restricted to students in the Medical Laboratory Technician/Clinical Laboratory Technician Programs.

4. Learning Outcomes [These outcomes are necessary to enable students to attain the essential knowledge and skills embodied in the program’s educational objectives.]

Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to:

Complete the objectives as detailed in the student Clinical Experience Manual. Objectives and expected outcomes are specific for each clinical laboratory department. The entire Clinical Manual is on file in the program director’s office.

5. Planned Sequence of Instruction [These must be designed to help students achieve the learning outcomes.]

The student spends four or five days per week in the clinical setting. Note: A complete listing of course objectives is located in the MLT Program Director’s office.

Assessment of student learning outcomes for the course, as required by AP 765, is part of regular curriculum maintenance and/or improvement. The specific plan has been determined by the pertinent faculty involved and is kept on file in the division office.
