SYLLABUS

A. Purpose and Objectives The aim of the internship for the master students in International Business Management program is to develop work skills for a successful absorption into the market labor, representing an integral part of the educational process. The students have the choice to conduct practical training in any company, in any field of activity. Following participation in the practical training period, the master students will gain the following competences:  The competence to organize activities, processes and people;  The competence for efficient use of the resources (financial, information, human and material);  The ability to make decisions based on analysis, experience and value judgments;  The competence to manage activities within organizations;  The ability to use modern methods of strategic planning.

B. Content The internship program will be completed with an Internship Report on International Strategies, which will have to meet a number of requirements specified below.

Title page Title of the Internship Report and the name of the company Student’s name, position within the company and dates of internship Name of tutor within the company

Second page Executive summary of the internship (skills acquired during the internship – 1 to 2 lines, summary of the internship – 10 lines)

Third page Contents table of the report including page numbering

I. Introduction (3-5 pages)  Company description (presentation of the company, aiming in particular the following: name, brief history of the company, area/areas of activity, organizational form, employees, and main groups of stakeholders, products and services of the company offers, the business units, etc.  Student’s objectives for the internship (primary and secondary objectives)

II. Description & Analysis (4-5 pages)  Description of the strategy/strategies pursued by the company. The Report will include the strategy/strategies followed by the company taking into account the characteristics of strategies (e.g. total costs, product range, market segments, etc.). The master students will have to consider a detailed description of these strategies pursued by the company.

III. Learning experience (3-5 pages)  Relationships within the company, personal development during the internship  Challenges, coping with problems

IV. Conclusions (1-3 pages)  Solutions to problems of strategy formulation, implementation and control  Link between academic learning and the real life experience in the company  Student’s propositions for personal improvements

V. Appendix  To the extent that is needed a number of supporting documents from the company will be included  Appendixes must be numbered  Students will make reference to appendixes within the report and any internal documents used during the internship

C. Conduct and Evaluation The internship program is part of the curriculum of the MS International Business Management. In order to smooth the internship, the master students will have to fulfill the following activities:  Decide on the company in which they would have the internship and start documentation by gathering information about the company.  Participate in the company, perform the tasks assigned.  Develop the Report according to the requirements foreseen in the Syllabus of internship.

The internship will be completed by a Colloquium of internship, during which students will have to present the content of the Report, that is going be rated with a grade of 1 to 10. Evaluation will take into account the content and the form of the Internship Report.

Together with the Internship Report, master students will hand in 3 copies of the Internship Convention (Convenție de practică) signed by their supervisor from the company and two copies of Internship Agreement (Acord de practică) signed by the legal representative of the company. The Internship Convention can be obtained from the Department of Management (room 250). The date for the Internship Convention should precede the starting period of the internship; whereas the date for the Internship Agreement should precede the date of the Internship Convention. D. Writing Instructions Report internship will be edited in Microsoft Word, taking into account the following rules of layout:  Format page ( "Page Setup") used for drafting the report for internship will be A4, with margins of 2.5 cm from the document "Top", "Bottom", "Left", "Right" and, respectively, at 0 cm "Gutter" and the section "Header" and "Footer" of 1.25 cm.  Text Report of internship will be drawn using character ("Font") such as "Times New Roman and size 12.  On how to format paragraphs ( "Paragraph"), use spacing ( "Line Spacing") in a row and a half (1.5 Lines "), and alignment (" Alignment ") of" Justified ".
