Minutes of monthly meeting of Ardee Town Council held in Market Square House, Market Street on Wednesday 9th May at 7.30 pm

MINUTE 20/07

Monthly Meeting

The minutes of the monthly meeting held on Wednesday April 11th were approved on the proposal of Councillor Fintan Malone and seconded by Councillor Niall Carberry.

MINUTE 21/07

Tribute to Val Kerr

Finnan McCoy and Padraig McKenny also paid tribute to Val Kerr and agreed with all the comments made at the last meeting.

Chairman Jim Tenanty, complemented the press on the tribute paid to Val Kerr.

Notice of Motion Notice of motion from Chairman Jim Tenanty: “That Ardee Town Council spearhead the bid to be the site chosen by the HSE for the new regional hospital. And we ask Candidates seeking election in the area to support us in our effort to secure such” Chairman Jim Tenanty advised members that Grant Thornton recommended that Ardee Town Council ‘spearhead’ and be unanimous as a group that lobby for the hospital. It was agreed to write to all counties that supported Ardee and to local T.D’s asking for their support.

Richard H. McDonnell – Consent of Ardee Town Commissioners to re-lodge application for transfer This was proposed and seconded

AMAI – Annual Conference It was proposed and seconded that Finnan McCoy and Tom Minogue attend

SNAP – Golf Classic in the Nuremore It was agreed that ATC would sponsor a team in both this Golf classic and the Malawai Golf Classic

AMAI – Leader boards This was welcomed by Chairman Jim Tenanty

Footprints for peace Walk - Members were advised that this group were to walk through Ardee on 16th May 2007, some members agreed that they would be able to meet with them.

Irish Public Bodies Mutual Insurance Ltd – Eighty-first Ordinary General Meeting - It was proposed and seconded that Padraig McKenny would attend.

 The Member wished the County Manager Martina Moloney all the best in her new post.

 Councillor Niall Carberry congratulated all concerned with the reception to welcome members of the EU Parliament, on Tuesday 17th April.  It was advised that a gate a College Park be mended or blocked, it was advised that it is a protected structure. It was agreed to write to area engineer.

 It was highlighted that footpaths from Rathory to Lidl needed to installed. The condition for the installation of footpaths was part of the planning permission which was changed by the section 140. It was agreed to write to Louth County Council.

 Water Quality was brought up as an issue as there was a tree in the river Dee for 18 months and the carcass of three bullocks were found. Although it was reported to the OPW, there seemed to be some confusion as they could not confirm dates when this was initially reported. It was agreed to write to the OPW to ask why nothing had been done sooner and details on what happed. It was also agreed to write to the OPW to clarify who is responsible for checking the rivers.

 Ongoing works at Hale Street – Residence and business people are requesting information on why the road works have taken so long. It was highlighted that the work is not consistent as on days there might only be one or two workers. It was suggested that a meeting or report from the area engineer to advise of the status of the works would be helpful.

 Details of a proposed business park was distributed to members by Councillor Finnan McCoy. It was advised that the area in not Zoned as industrial in the Development Plan. It was agreed that ATC would back project if it is on Zoned land. Councillor Finnan McCoy proposed a role call, Councillor Seamus Gaffney proposed no role call be taken this was seconded by Padraig McKenny, amendment was carried

 Walkways put into old estates to integrate old and new communities, was discussed. It was advised that nothing could be done, but was agreed to ask Planning Authority to take this into consideration in the County Development Plan.

 It was agreed to write to ESB for details on the upgrading on lighting in Ardee will take place

 It was queried if there were any details of the new Superintendent. It was agreed to write to local Gardai for details.

 Chairman Jim Tenanty expressed his disappointment that Ardee was not selected for CCTV. He also expressed his concern with life bouys being interfered with. The group was advised of a portable CCTV unit that can be moved and can record for up to three weeks. The Chairman also praised Councillor Padraig McKenny on his hard work on this project.  Chairman Jim Tenanty proposed the 11th June for the date for the Annual General Meeting, this was seconded by Councillor Padraig McKenny.
