LIST OF TECHNICAL PRESCRIPTIONS REGULATING THE PROCUREMENT, IN AN OPEN PROCEDURE (ART. 157) AND IN APPLICATION OF DECREE-LAW 3/2016, OF 31 MAY, ON URGENT MEASURES FOR PUBLIC PROCUREMENT OF EQUIPMENT FOR PRODUCING THIN SECTIONS FROM GEOLOGICAL SAMPLES.

1. 1 AIM The aim of this list of technical prescriptions is to establish the minimum characteristics of equipment for the preparation of thin sections of rocks, for the Thin-Section Service of the University of Bar- celona's Faculty of Earth Sciences.

2. TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION OF THE EQUIPMENT The Thin-Section Service of the Faculty of Earth Sciences needs to purchase equipment for the preparation of thin sections from geological samples.

2.1. Minimum characteristics required:

The new equipment must have at least the characteristics of the equipment that is currently in use (Logitech LP40, purchased in 1996) and be up-to-date and fully equipped. In other words, the new equipment must be equivalent and analogous in characteristics and features to the product Logitech LP50. To meet these requirements, it must have the following minimum characteristics:

 Main body of the machinery with a lapping and polishing system for rocks with an automatic control system to obtain an optimal flat finish (specular), equipped with an abrasive autofeed cylinder, an eccentric auto sweep system with three simultaneous lapping and polishing sites and an integrated vacuum system (at 220/240v/50Hz).  Abrasive autofeed cylinder (single valve) for use with the main body of machinery described above and equipped with a downward drop dispersal system for the abrasive slurry.  Steel polishing plate with mounts, of dimensions that are suitable for use with the main machinery (in the case of the LP50, 13.8”/35 cm diameter and suitable for working with standard parts PP5/LP2J).  Three precision-polishing templates capable of holding simultaneously 6 thin sections of dimensions 28x48 mm, or alternatively 2 thin sections of dimensions 25x75 mm plus 3 thin sections of 28x48 mm, or alternatively a thin section of 50x75 mm plus 3 thin sections of 28x48 mm (in the case of Logitech LP50, type PLJ2c).  Three vacuum rotary adapters with tubing systems (in the case of LP50, suitable for use with parts PLJ2, PP5GT, PP6GT and PP8GTi with assembly systems of cylinders packed with filler).  Three steel holding rings of 5”/127 mm diameter.  Three weight blocks (3.5 kg) suitable for systems with a pressure block and a polishing block.  Test block (steel) for the polishing plate 5”/127 mm  Three pressure blocks 4”/106 mm diameter  One digital calibration system (2 dials, in the case of Logitech LP50 for use with PLJ2 templates).  Training of a technician at the production centre.

2.2. Additional handbooks and information The bidder must provide a description of the equipment, including written text, graphics, catalogues, handbooks, photographs and files of technical specifications so that it can be assessed whether it meets requirements of technical, functional and/or environmental quality.

3. IMPROVEMENTS IN THE OFFER 3.1. Merit will be given for the following improvements:

Demonstrable guarantee of even polish accuracy above two microns for the sample. (5 points) Two- or three-year extension of the guarantee. (10 points) Vacuum impregnation unit (220/240v /% 50Hz) for encapsulation of porous samples with epoxy resin or a similar substance (in the case of Logitech LP50, the complementary equipment IU30). (10 points) Local training on the use of the equipment at the production centre or of a second technician. (5 points)
