14TH Edition TRI-DISTRICT JUNIOR/SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL CHARITY HOCKEY TOURNAMENT
What: 14th Edition Charity Hockey Tournament. The tournament will include twelve teams on the boy’s side and four teams on the girl’s side in the high school division and 20 junior high teams of boys and girls representing all schools in the Grande Prairie area in a 3 on 3 format. The hockey is very entertaining and competitive. When: April 30, May 1, and May 2. Games start at 9:00 am on Friday and 8:30 am on Saturday going on both ice surfaces. Where: Coca Cola Center Proceeds: Last year we raised just over $70,000.00 for seriously or terminally ill students, kindergarten to grade 12 in the Grande Prairie Catholic, Peace Wapiti, and Grande Prairie Public school districts. We ask for donations for attendance to the games. Much of our money is raised by cash donations from corporate and business contributors. Benefits: The money helps to lighten the burden for these students and their families who need treatment. Some students may need to travel to Edmonton and therefore we can help them with transportation, food, accommodation and other miscellaneous expenses. Last year 25 students shared $65,000, $2000 was given to each student along with a gift that included laptops, reading aids, etc to help with their school life. We have also purchased wheel chairs, strollers, etc. for students with mobility issues. Marketing: We very much appreciate your support. As a token of our appreciation, we will be making a minimum of 5 PA announcements over the course of the tournament before, during and after each game mentioning the name of your business and your contribution. We are also designing a large color banner with our game schedule and the business logos and names around the perimeter. We may need to get your logo for our VIS COM department for the banner. We also would appreciate someone from the company to attend a presentation at a local school to make a cheque presentation to the student and their family. Receipts: If you are able to help, mail cheques (made out to 3D Children’s Society) to address below, attention Darren, or call/email and cheques can also be picked up at business. At the current time, we are waiting for Federal Government confirmation of a charity registration number.
