Documentary Film Workshop, 7 - 20 July 2014
Through 13 days 45 young filmmakers (18-26 years old) from Slovenia, Croatia, Belgium, France, Spain, Ireland... from various backgrounds will come together and reflect the society through the proces of making the short documentary films.
Film workshops
The main activity running through all the project will be Documentary Film Workshop. The idea is that in the first 2 days we will have introduction lessons, searching and discussing the potential themes – ideas for documentaries, later we will split in small groups 3-4 people and start shooting. The last few days will be time to edit it. There will be mentors – experienced film directors Želimir Žilnik (www.zilnikzelimir.net), Marko Cvejić, Igor Bezinović, DOP Jure Černec and editors Nemanja Babić, Bob Miloshevic... who will support you in all phases of film making. They will also run lessons/workshop on specific topics (introduction into documentary film, film language, using of camera, lights, sound, editing ...)
The main idea for selection the topics for workshop films&videos is reflection of society by young people. In the same time this will be expressions about us, who we are, what we are into, what we stand for... The way how we produce, consume and react to media can be dramatically different. All those differences will be built in our workshop products.
As we believe that sometimes might be difficult to find idea for the film in such a short time, especially in new environment, we will invite some locals who will present some ideas and suggestions for possible topics for your documentaries. Anyway, we also stimulate you to come up with your own ideas for the topics of workshop films; something that you believe that is important and you would like to show to wider audience, something that you believe that should be more visible and discussed in the public, something that in mainstream media doesn't have enough publicity and you believe that should deserve it ... But don't forget that has to be realistic to film it on the locations of Ptuj and to finalize it in a such a short time.

Projections of films made by young people
In the evenings we will have projections of films made by participants in their countries. Projections will be followed by discussions with the authors. Those of you who have films that you would like to show, please tell us in advance that we can prepare the timetables Equipment
We have few HD & HDV camcorders, DSLRs and computers for editing (mostly with Apple Final Cut). Unfortunately we don't have enough equipment for all of you, so it will be necessary to share between the groups.
Those of you who has your own equipment (camcorders, tripods, microphones, laptops...) please bring it. In that case you will be much more independent, you won't need to wait for the equipment.
There will be rooms to lock the equipment, there is also alarm in the building where we will have editing rooms.
Final projection
On 18th of July we will organise a public projection of the films that we will make. This means that we expect from you to finalize your projects - workshop films & videos the same day before 17.00. Projection will run from computer so we need export files (*.mov or *.avi). Please don't forget to put English subtitles.
