1 Post 14.15HAI01 1.1 Post: Clinical supervisor – City Lit Counselling Service 1.2 Programme Access inclusion and Study Support area: 1.3 Line Manager: Lead Counsellor 1.4 Location: 1-10 Keeley Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2B 4BA 1.5 Hourly Rate: £34.40 hour inclusive of pro rata holiday entitlement and preparation time. 1.6 Hours of Work: 2 hours per fortnight – weekday evening

2. Main purpose of the job

To provide fortnightly group supervision to volunteer counsellors (maximum of four) on placement at the City Lit Counselling Service (CLCS), ensuring ethical practice and adherence to BACP and CLCS policies and procedures.

3. Main activities and responsibilities 3.1 Offer fortnightly group clinical supervision to volunteer placement counsellors on a weekday evening. 3.2 Ensure volunteer counsellors work ethically, with professional integrity, and within BACP and CLCS guidelines. 3.3 Collect receipts and fees from volunteer counsellors. 3.4 Keep Lead Counsellor informed of any issues affecting volunteer counsellors’ competence, professionalism and fitness to practise. 3.5 Signpost volunteer counsellors to sources of support, if necessary, to help process personal material emerging from client work. 3.6 Keep Lead Counsellor informed of clients who prove especially challenging or unsuitable for counselling. 3.7 Agree, in conjunction with Lead Counsellor, when a client’s counselling agreement can be extended 3.8 Conduct annual review of volunteer counsellors’ work, with recommendations regarding the continuation of the counsellors’ contract with the City Lit. 3.9 Attend occasional CLCS meetings. 3.10 Carry out quality assurance procedures as appropriate. 3.11 Keep up to date with subject knowledge and attend relevant training / development events and meetings as required/appropriate. 3.12 Any other duties as appropriate to the post. 3.13 Work at all times in accordance with and to further the policies and procedures of City Lit, including those regarding safeguarding, health & safety, equality & diversity and customer care. 4. Selection criteria Your application should show evidence that 1. demonstrates that you: 4.1 Qualifications  Have a diploma in clinical supervision with a humanistic and/or integrative orientation.  Accreditation with BACP/UKCP or equivalent. 4.2 Work experience  A minimum of 1000 hours’ post-qualification as a counsellor/psychotherapist.  Extensive knowledge of therapeutic theories, practice and interventions.  Knowledge of mental health issues and their presentation.  Experience of working with volunteers and/or placement counsellors.  Experience of supervising counsellors with multiple theoretical orientations.  Experience or knowledge of adult education. 4.3 Committed to City  Can raise the profile of the service at City Lit Lit’s success  Have an understanding of and experience of promoting equality and diversity  Understand and have experience of promoting safe- guarding, health and safety as appropriate to the role 4.4 Create an outstanding  Have an understanding of and experience of promoting student experience excellent customer care.  Can support students to overcome barriers to learning. 4.5 Contribute to quality  Can support the process of quality improvement and improvement understand you role in it. 4.6 Contribute to a  Can communicate effectively and listen to others. positive working  Can work in a collaborative way. environment 4.7 Help their team  Work effectively as part of a team. produce outstanding  Share best practice and learn from other colleagues results 4.8 Keep learning and  Undertake continuing professional development. improving  Have up to date knowledge and enthusiasm and interest for the subject.
