No. Item 1. Welcome The chair opened the meeting and welcomed attendees. Minutes of previous meeting (24 October 2012) Minutes of previous meeting were accepted without amendment Actions arising from previous meeting (24 October 2012) 1. WSV to e-mail Barry and Cathy to confirm the status of manual Improvement Notices. Completed; Krystle Shirreff met with Barry and Cathy on 29 November to confirm all manual improvement notices being issues during the industrial action are legally valid and will all be entered into Fieldlink post industrial action. 2. WSV to e-mail Barry and Cathy the ER review. Completed; email sent to Barry and Cathy on 30 October. 3. WSV to e-mail Barry and Cathy the preliminary recommendation of the Codes Review project, including links to the Codes asking stakeholders for feedback on the priorities by mid-November 2012. Completed; email sent to Barry and Cathy on 31 October. Actions arising from previous meeting (27 September 2012) 1. WSV to provide further information about the strategy behind updating the website. Completed; update provided at SRG on 29 November 2012. 2. WSV to reconvene the manual handling reference group. Completed; Reference Group reconvened on 13 December 2012.
2. Marketing update Steve Gosbell, Director Marketing, provided an update on WorkSafe’s website. Steve provided information on: - The current client experience when using WorkSafe’s website versus the client expectations;
Page 1 No. Item - changes WorkSafe have made and continue to make to incrementally improve the website; - WorkSafe’s future plans and direction for the website including an outline of the changes and timelines. Stakeholders agreed there are problems with the current website but felt positive about the future plans that were outlined. Stakeholders made other suggestions for WorkSafe to consider in their web strategy, including a greater use of ‘apps’ and guidance material being available both in pdf and text format. Stakeholders queried why the Prosecutions Results Summaries database was still not up on the web. Action1: WSV to check on progress of the review of online Prosecutions Results Summaries database.
3. Legislation Policy and Information Service Update Angela Jolic, Manager Stakeholder and Communication (LPIS) advised the group the Dangerous Goods (Storage and Handling) Regulations will come into effect on 1 December 2012; noting the review of the Codes of Practice will now be a key priority for LPIS. Public Comment for the Codes of Practice will commence in February 2013, with any comments ahead of the official public comment period welcome. An update was also provided on the National OHS forums and the Regulators in Harmonisation Project.
4. Prevention Strategy Update Megan O’Halloran, Manager Prevention Strategy, Planning & Research, updated the group on WorkSafe’s intention, in response to Caple’s review into HSRs, to re-design the HSR 5-day training package using SWA learning outcomes; plus WorkSafe’s plans to develop its own 5-day HSR training package providing external training providers with the option to use WorkSafe’s ‘off-the-shelf’ training package instead of designing their own. Action 2: WSW to provide a breakdown of the type of registrations being received on the HSR portal Bernie Dean, General Manager Prevention Strategy, provided project updates on dangerous machines, residential aged care, small business consultants and the stress guidance. An overview was also provided on the findings of David Caple’s inquiry into how people commonly go about identifying and assessing when manual handling poses an OHS risk to workers and the currency and utility of existing material available on manual handling.
