200 BL (Black) 200 W (White) Self Adhesive Intumescent Edge Sealing Installation Instructions

IMPORTANT: Read before installation! Failure to do so may void guarantee or result in improper adhesive.

1. Storage and shelf life: All adhesive gaskets have a limited shelf life. These products perform best when used within 12 months of purchase. 2. Application Temperature: If frames are too cold (below 50 degrees F) or too hot (above 100 degrees F) adhesion may be impaired. Attempt to elevate ambient temperature. Do NOT heat gaskets. 3. When To Install: Installation of 200 BL & 200 W should take place after construction is completed, flooring installed and final cleaning complete. 4. Paint must be cured for at least 5-7 days. Paint cannot be wet under dry surface when gaskets are pressed on. Avoid quick-dry primers, when leave powdery surface, preventing sufficient adhesion. When applying 200 BL & 200 W to a wood frame or door, the surface must be non-porous (i.e. sealed, painted, or varnished). Follow standard industry guideline on sealed wood frames and abrade or rough surface before applying. Note: Anti-bacterial, anti-fungal or silicone additives in paint may inhibit adhesion. 5. Surface Preparation: Use enclosed TWO ALCOHOL SWABS to remove grease, dust or cleanser build-up. Some hospital environments have wax or anti- bacterial cleanser build-up. As an alternative or substitute cleanser, use isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. Note: Mineral spirits or other petroleum cleaning products should NOT be used. 6. Application Tips and Warning: (A) Don’t stretch material. Product can retract or shrink if stretched. (B) Use very firm, perpendicular pressure when applying. Extra pressure required due to product weight and absence of re- compression. (C) Use wallpaper seam roller or screwdriver handle butt to reinforce adhesion after applying. Caution: do not stretch material when using reinforcing roller or screwdriver butt. Run roller or butt with up and down motions. (D) Double check adhesion after 2-3 hours before leaving job overnight. (E) If smoke gasket or intumescent strip separates from frame press again with firm pressure in place. Note: If adhesive strip is exposed, airborne dust may impede adhesion. Replacement may be necessary at this stage. (F) Note: Headers must be installed with equal pressure at jambs. Sometimes too little pressure is applied at header to awkward overhead application. 7. For piggyback applications of gasketing use Columbia part numbers 3338, 3339, or 3338S mounted on top 200 BL & 200 W , make sure 200 BL & 200W is applied with sufficient pressure first, before applying smoke gasket. Wipe down 200 BL surface if needed, close doors overnight to ensure good set. 8. Note: Adhesion takes delayed set. Immediate removal and resetting can be done if error occurs in initial replacement. DO NOT reset after one hour. Full set is reached in 24 hours.

 Helps prevent penetration of life threatening hot smoke and hot gasses by expanding up to 30 times its original size, filling the gaps around the perimeter of the door.  Chemically inert, contains no toxic or hazardous materials.  Carbon dioxide and erosion-resistant.  Highly stable.  Moisture-resistant.  High sheer acrylic adhesive is applied to one side for easy application .  Can be painted to match door frame.  Activation takes place without noxious fumes or smoke being given off. Columbia’s intumescent edge seal can now be used on a wide range of 20, 45, and 90 minute rated door and frame applications. Manufacturer’s modifications procedures need to be updated to allow their doors of frames to meet these remarkable results.
