LIBRARY OF CONGRESS SCIENCE RESEARCH GUIDES ONLINE
Background: The Library of Congress, Science, Technology and Business Division has for many years created bibliographies and research guides for topics in the sciences. We used to receive one of their research guides series, LC Science Tracer Bullets Series, in print through the Federal Depository Library Program. Now this is available online through our OPAC. These Bullets provide a compact overview of each subject and a firm platform from which to conduct additional research.
To access: In the OPAC enter the title: Science tracer bullets and click Access on Internet.
Format: Most guides follow the same format and include the following sections:
. Scope . Introduction to the Topic . Subject Headings . Basic Texts . Additional Titles . Related Titles . Specialized Texts . Conference Proceedings . Government Publications . Abstracting and Indexing Services . Journals . Representative Journal Articles . Selected Materials . Additional Sources of Information . Selected Internet Resources
In Addition: By going to the home page for the Library of Congress Science Reference Services home page ( http://www.loc.gov/rr/scitech/ or hitting Home on the Tracer web page) one is able to gain access to a whole range of interesting science related things, for example, Technical Reports, other bibliographies and research guides, indexes, webcasts, etc.
