Easybib Open Internet Explorer and go to www.easybib.com Sign up/Log in

Sign up using First Name Last Name Email Email password (keep it the same as you already use with email) Confirm Email No coupon code **Have students save password in phone or write it down

Click New Project Name project title of Short Story No subject needed No writing about needed Use MLA style Click Create

Once page reloads and Short Story title appears, click blue link Bibliography Stop here for now with Easybib (Easybib must be open to their bibliography page to import citation information)

To go to Databases Open new tab at top and go to www.dpisd.org Click on Schools and go to South Click Resources Click Library Click English Resources

**Explain to students 5 databases to use but will start with the best – Artemis

Click Artemis Type in Short Story title in search box On search results page point out Content Types (Left) such as Literary Criticisms, Topics & Work Overview, etc. Point out summary of each article to help make best selection Click/Select article to read Scroll down and show content of article Show how to cite by clicking on Citation tool (top left) Export box opens. Click Easybib (This will export the citation from the article straight into Easybib as long as the students have Easybib open to the correct project)

Go back to Easybib by clicking on top tab Point out project name (short story title which is at top left) and the added citation Notice the added citation has URL. Click Edit, scroll down and make sure radio button under the URL box is clicked on NO. Click Update citation. The URL should no longer be displayed.

Stop now for the first mini lesson. Remind students that Easybib saves automatically. Have students use Artemis for a few days before moving on to another database

On day 3 (or when teacher wants lesson) Repeat all instructions

Easy Version: 1. Have students log in to Easybib & open current short story project 2. Click on blue Bibliography link 3. Open New tab and go to South Campus/Resources/Library/English Resources 4. Click on Infobase Database (Note this database does not export to Easybib) **This is a copy/paste database. To copy/paste follow these instruction:

Click Infobase Link and scroll down to Literature and Language Arts Click Bloom’s Literature Type in Short Story title in search box After page loads, show students the tabs at top of page (All Results, Biographies, Overview, etc.) Select & Click article Click Citation Tools on right or scroll to bottom of page Copy citation through date by highlighting and using Control C (URL not needed in MLA format) Go back to Easybib by clicking Easybib tab (Should be opened to current project) Click All 59 options tab Click Write/paste citation Paste into box by using Control V **Don’t forget to add period at the end of citation in box Click Create Citation

Students should see at least 2 entries – one from Artemis database & one from Infobase (if student uses this database) Printing from Easybib

Go to Easybib & sign in Click on My Projects Click on blue Bibliography Link under Short Story Project Click Orange Export button Click Print as a Word Doc Click Orange Download for MS Word Click Open (may take a few seconds to open) Once it downloads and opens, Click Enable to add last name and correct page number

Click Insert (top of page) Page Number Select Top of Page Select Plain number 3
