MOLONEY, 12 SENIOR DIRECTOR FOR STATE AND LOCAL 13 GOVERNMENT RELATIONS IN SOUTH CAROLINA FOR 14 BOEING, AND TO WISH HIM SUCCESS AS HE RETURNS 15 TO THE GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS OFFICE OF BOEING 16 IN WASHINGTON, D.C., TO ASSUME THE ROLE OF 17 DIRECTOR FOR TRANSPORTATION POLICY. 18 19 Whereas, with deep appreciation for his enormously beneficial 20 impact on the Palmetto State, the members of the South Carolina 21 General Assembly have learned that John Moloney will be 22 returning to Washington, D.C., to continue serving Boeing as its 23 director for transportation policy beginning June 20, 2014; and 24 25 Whereas, since 2011, he has been the senior director for Boeing’s 26 government operations in South Carolina, responsible for leading 27 all state and local political activities, and developing and 28 implementing legislative strategy in the State during a challenging 29 time of establishment and rapid growth for Boeing South Carolina; 30 and 31 32 Whereas, Mr. Moloney began his Boeing career in 2004 as the 33 director for legislative affairs in Washington, D.C., where he 34 interacted closely with South Carolina’s congressional delegation 35 over the course of several years, culminating in Boeing’s move to 36 North Charleston in 2009; and 37 38 Whereas, from 1991 until 2004, he served as the director of 39 regulatory and industry affairs for Delta Air Lines, overseeing 40 international and regulatory matters affecting Delta in the United 41 States and the thirtytwo countries it served, and working

[5258] 2 1 extensively on labor, management, aviation security, and post9/11 2 recovery issues; and 3 4 Whereas, Mr. Moloney served as the director of international 5 government relations for Trans World Airlines from 1987 to 1991. 6 Before he entered his long and successful career in the airline 7 industry, he worked at the United States Department of 8 Transportation in the Office of Policy and International Affairs, on 9 the ReaganBush ‘84 presidential campaign, and on the White 10 House staff of Vice President George H.W. Bush; and 11 12 Whereas, he earned a bachelor’s in political science and 13 organizational behavior/management from Brown University and a 14 juris doctorate from the Catholic University of America Columbus 15 School of Law in Washington, D.C.; and 16 17 Whereas, deeply involved in his community, Mr. Moloney has 18 served the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce on its executive 19 committee, board of directors, and as chairman of its Legislative 20 Affairs Task Force. He also has served on the board of Louie’s 21 Kids, a Charleston area charity focusing on childhood obesity, as 22 president of the International Aviation Club of Washington, on the 23 board of governors of the Aero Club of Washington, on the board 24 of directors of the AmericanTurkish Council, and on the 25 U.S.Greece Business Council; and 26 27 Whereas, the South Carolina General Assembly is profoundly 28 grateful for the unparalleled contributions that John Moloney has 29 made to the economy and quality of life in the Palmetto State, and 30 wishes him continued success and happiness in his return to 31 Washington, D.C. Now, therefore, 32 33 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate 34 concurring: 35 36 That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this 37 resolution, recognize and honor John M. Moloney, senior director 38 for state and local government relations in South Carolina for 39 Boeing, and wish him success as he returns to the Government 40 Operations office of Boeing in Washington, D.C., to assume the 41 role of director for transportation policy. 42
