Chief Kanim Middle School PTSA 2.18.28 General Meeting Minutes

June 3rd, 2014

Proper notice was given to all members and a quorum was present. The financial books were on hand and available for review.

Call to Order: Co-Presidents Kimi Winter and Connie Rosenberger called the meeting to order at 10:19 a.m.

Jerrie Crook Treasurer’s Report: Reviewed Feb. and March reports, proposed budget-see budget 2014-2015. Note that we need a chair for No Effort Fundraising, would also like to set up Amazon no effort fundraising. Kimberly will contact Nina Ramsey as she works on no effort fundraising for FCES. Vote to approve the proposed budget. Tanya Alter moves and Marcheila Kenow seconds the motion. All were in favor with none opposed.

Secretary’s Report Jilliann Postforoosh: Discussed changes to the Standing Rules. There was a motion from Marcheila Kenow to approve the new Standing Rules and this was seconded by Tanya Alter, all were in favor, none were opposes. New Standing Rules were approved. There was a question from the floor regarding a Teacher Representative to PTSA as we do not currently have one. Kimi will be in contact with Prin. Dunckle to work on this. The teacher rep. would have their PTSA dues sponsored by PTSA.

Tanya Alter Art Tech Walk: In past this was with the end of the year choir/band concert. With the larger school it was placed with just the choir concert and this didn’t seem to bring in as many viewers. Would like to have AT Walk on its own night in March next school year. Will expand to a hands on art experience. ? of selling postcards made by the kids. Also would like to serve coffee etc.

Floor discussion regarding 8 th grade celebration: Marchiela Kenow reports: Do have someone to chair this next year Miki Halvorson. Try to get the 7th grade parents to decorate and chaperone every year. Get pizzas, parents bring sides, drinks, etc. Dance after with a photo booth. Typically very highly attended event 98-100% attendance. Kids do typically dress up, there are resources in the Valley such as “Teen Closet” for outfits.

Tobi Rackers: ? of Mixed Bag fundraiser. Dana Sullivan will chair if needed after the HAT funds. FCES will not be doing it this year so we can switch off years. Tobi and Dana will get CKMS a number but won’t promote until after HAT in the fall. Tobi Rackers is the Dance chair next year, with idea to add photos, maybe fun Polaroid’s.

Secretary report Jilliann Postforoosh: Minutes Kimi and Connie motion to approve and Tanya Alter seconds. All agreed and none opposed.

Connie Rosenberger: Still looking for a replacement Co-Pres or Co-Pres shadow.

Golden Acorn Awards: Awards were presented by Kimi and Connie to: Marchiela Kenow, Tanya Alter, Sara Barnes.
