Dear Parent / Guardian s27

Dear Parent / Guardian, 25/10/17

To support our next unit of work in science (evolution and adaptation) and our current theme work (South America) we have arranged three exciting trip for next half term!

Our first educational visit will take place on Friday 10th November and is a visit to the Odeon Cinema to watch Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Following on from this visit, we will be creating our own beasts and thinking about how they might be adapted to live in outer space, then using them in our science fiction writing. Pupils will visit the cinema in school time, leaving after registration and returning for lunch. Please could your child bring a packed lunch on this day in case we are slightly late returning to school.

Our next visit takes place on Thursday 7th December and is a visit to the BBC Radio headquarters in Blackburn. Our children will watch a live radio broadcast and some of our pupils will be given the exciting opportunity to appear live on the show! This is an exciting opportunity and will help to prepare our pupils for the podcasting work they will be doing over the next term with Mrs. Burgon. We will arrive for the start of the show at 10:30am and return at lunchtime. Again, we would like your child to bring a packed lunch on this day.

Finally, we will visit South Lakes Safari Zoo on Tuesday 12th December. During this visit we will look for South American animals and consider further how animals are adapted to the habitats in which they originate from. Our pupils will be able to feed a giraffe and penguin and will watch the big cats being fed (from a safe distance!) during their day. This visit will obviously require a warm, waterproof coat, shoes suitable for walking in throughout the day and possibly hats and gloves! School uniform should be worn as usual on educational visits. Children will require a packed lunch and a small amount of spending money (£5) for the gift shop on site.

We are aware that 3 visits in 1 half term is a very exciting prospect and have tried to keep the costs to a minimum! We are therefore asking for the voluntary contribution of £20 per pupil. As always, should there not be sufficient funds to cover the cost of the three visits, they may be cancelled.

Thankyou for your cooperation,
