KYSTE Unit Tracking Sheet Part Two

Congratulations! If you have made it to this step, you have successfully completed a driving question that will guide the rest of this process. Step Two involves another extremely important step—research!

The first thing you need to do is SAVE THIS DOCUMENT. Title it: Your first name, your last name, class period, KYSTE part two. Example: Lindsay Johnson 3rd period KYSTE Part Two

In this step, you will become a detective. Your job is to locate and analyze informational sources related to your driving question that will help learn about your topic AND give you an idea for your project that must be completed by October 22, 2014! To complete this step you need to remember that the sky is the limit! You have so many resources available to you. You can look for information in books in the RCSHS library, in the files that have been loaned to us from the Rowan County Public Library, and use your surface table to research information from online databases or local websites (The Morehead News, Morehead Tourism Commission, etc). You are also lucky to have local experts at your disposal! Mrs. Johnson has the contact information for ALL the local experts that presented when we attended the KYTSE Kick Off event at the beginning of school. With all the resources, you will be able to locate and analyze at least three (3) credible sources that provide you with information related to your driving question, topic and project.

8. Your first task for this part of the tracking sheet is to look back through the paragraph you just read and list all the resources it gives you in which you can locate sources for your research.

9. Once again, your task is to analyze your driving question. Below brainstorm information that it might be important for you to find out in order to answer your driving question and begin creating your project. An example for this can be found in the first section of the table. This is a working document, meaning that as you find out information, you may need to change or add to it! You can ask Mrs. Johnson for help if you have any questions.

Now that you have completed this step—you are ready to start researching. This part will take time, as it is important to be sure you are finding information that is accurate and from a credible source. You will need to analyze the sources you find. If at any point, you are hitting a “brick wall ” in your research—meaning you just can’t seem to find what you are looking for—Contact Mrs. Johnson.

As you research, you will complete a “Source Analysis” on each source that you decide to use in your project. I have provided three (3) “Source Analysis” pages here.
