Students will sit in their assigned seat and follow the instructions posted for the day. 4. Students will remain in their assigned seat during class; no waiting by the door at the end of class or you will earn a tardy. 5. If you must use the restroom or go to your locker during class, you will have to use a pass for this. You will be issued three bathroom/locker passes that are good for one semester. If you do not use your passes, then you may redeem them at the end of the semester for bonus points. If you use your three passes before the end of the semester you will have to take a tardy. 6. Students will come to class with an attitude to do their best work. 7. Students will follow all directions and lab safety instructions when conducting labs. Failure to do so will result in a zero on that lab and a referral to the office. 8. Assignments will only be accepted in black ink, blue ink or pencil.

1 Grades A 92-100% B 84-91% C 76-83% D68-75% F 67% or less

Grades will be determined based on the following percentages:

Assignments (12.5%): Assignments are to be completed individually. Assignments will be graded on a five point completion scale.

Quizzes (12.5%) Quizzes are given weekly and will cover notes and homework from that week. Daily assessments will be given to review current material.

Labs (25%): • There will be one to two labs per chapter. • Labs will not be done in pairs. Each student is responsible for his/her own lab work and lab report. •This will include a pre-lab, experimentation, and post-lab questions. The pre- lab is assigned prior to the lab this must be completed in order for you to participate in lab. The experimentation will be completed in class. The post-lab will be assigned as homework that will be due the next day. • Lab notebooks may not be collected after each lab so multiple lab reports may be turned in at one time as designated by the teacher. In cases where several days if not weeks have been allowed for the completion of labs and reports the lab notebook is due by the deadline given. If you are present at school at anytime but miss class due to field trips or appointments, I still expect to receive the lab notebook by that deadline.

Test (50%): Tests are given at the end of the chapter. Tests will include multiple choice, short answer questions, and problems. Tests will be out of 100 points.

Final Exam: 12% of semester grade

Late and Makeup Work Policy 1. All assignments, activities, and lessons will be provided for one week in advance; it is your responsibility to check the calendar. Assignments that are due must be turned in when I ask for them, assignments turned in after this time are considered late. Late work is not accepted. 2. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to get the assignments and the notes that you missed. Do not ask to make-up assignments weeks after the absence. 3. If you have an absence on lab day, then it is your responsibility to set up a time with me to make up the lab. 4. If you are absent on an examination day or a day when an assignment is due, you will turn in the assignment or take the test on the day you return to class.

2 5. Field trips are not considered an absence. All assignments, lab activities, or test/quizzes must be completed before the day of the field trip or you will receive a zero.

Academic Misconduct In the event of academic misconduct (cheating or plagiarism), all parties involved will receive a zero on the individual assignment/test and will be referred to their assistant principal.
