Entertainment on the Pier

Worthing Pier in the 19th Century was popular with both locals and visitors who enjoyed walking along the narrow Promenade. From 1881 a German band from The Rhine played daily in the Pavilion. Following improvements to the Pier in 1888, a steamer ran a service daily between Worthing to Brighton Piers and from 1896 short films was shown on The Promenade to the many tourists that visited the town during the summer season.
