Re: Current investment direction within your {name of Group Retirement Services Plan}

Dear Plan member, As a result of amendments to the British Columbia Pension Benefits Standards Regulation (the Regulation), there are changes affecting Defined Contribution Pension Plans (DCPPs) registered in British Columbia. Your DCPP (your Plan) is affected by the amendments to the Regulation, which took effect on September 30, 2015. The new Regulation requires that the default fund for a DCPP registered in British Columbia must be one of two prescribed funds: (i) a balanced fund, or (ii) a portfolio of investments that takes into account a member’s age. Any member who, at the time of enrolment, did not provide investment instructions was deemed to have invested his or her account in accordance with the DCPP’s default investment fund. The new default funds must be implemented by June 28, 2016. Your Plan’s current default fund complies with the Regulation.

How do these changes affect you? As of May 1, 2016 Sun Life has identified that you are currently 100% invested in a low risk investment fund (e.g. guaranteed, bond, money market or deposit fund). Sun Life Financial will not automatically update your DCPP’s investment instructions, however we encourage you to review your investment options by going online to mysunlife.ca, reviewing your most recent statement, or calling the Sun Life Financial Customer Care Centre.

Updating your investment instructions You may update your investment instructions at any time either:  online by logging in to your account at mysunlife.ca, and selecting Requests>> Change investments from the menu, or  over the phone by calling the Sun Life Financial Customer Care Centre at 1-8XX-XXX-XXXX, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET, any business day.

Sun Life Financial Inc. is a member of the Sun Life Financial group of companies. www.sunlife.com As with any change that impacts your investment funds, it’s always a good idea to review your current investment options to ensure that they continue to meet your retirement goals. You can do this online by signing into the Plan Member Services website at www.mysunlife.ca and completing the Asset Allocation tool, or by reviewing your most recent statement.

Sincerely,
