A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of Robert Lenon Whitney. With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Robert Lenon Whitney, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul. WHEREAS, Robert Lenon Whitney, a longtime resident of Cox's Creek, Kentucky, was born on February 16, 1913, and he traversed these earthly bounds on February 22, 2000; and WHEREAS, Robert Lenon Whitney was the devoted husband of Judith M. Whitney; he was the loving father of two daughters, Lexa Ann Bentley of Bradenton, Florida, and Marilyn Jo Cornell of Crestwood, and a son, Phillip Robert Whitney of Bowling Green; he was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren and five great- grandchildren; and he was the loving brother of Richard Whitney of Muncie, Indiana; and WHEREAS, Robert Lenon Whitney was an esteemed member of the Nelson County community, where he owned and operated Whitney Stables, and developed numerous world champions in a variety of breeds; and his expertise, knowledge, and experience in the equestrian world gained him recognition and respect among his fellow peers; and WHEREAS, Robert Lenon Whitney was a renowned American Horse Shows Association judge for over thirty years; he was the recipient of Hall of Fame awards from the Kentucky World's Championship Horse Show, the United Professional Horseman's Association, and the American Morgan Horse Association; he earned the Indiana Horseman's Association award, the Dixie Cup Trainers award, and the American Morgan Horse Association Golden Reins award; and his most recent recognition was that of Horse World's People's Choice Trainer of the Century award; and WHEREAS, the passing of Robert Lenon Whitney has left a void that will be difficult to fill, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth; NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its utter sense of bereavement and loss upon the passing of Robert Lenon Whitney, and extends to his family and many friends its most profound and deepest sympathy. Section 2. The passion, dedication, intelligence, and social consciousness Robert Lenon Whitney brought to this Commonwealth and to this great nation will never be forgotten, and his influence will continue. Section 3. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Robert Lenon Whitney. Section 4. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Ms. Judith M. Whitney, Whitney Stables, 9575 Louisville Road, Cox's Creek, Kentucky 40013.
