23. Which session(s) of the Program is the most useful/beneficial to you? a. Lectures on library development trends; sharing of experiences; library visits and detailed introduction of library management b. 5-S management c. Interaction between speakers and participants d. Dr. Wu Ming-der’s talk (Dr. Wu is the Director of National Taiwan University Library) e. Sessions on application of information technology in library management and public services f. 24. What other themes/activities would you suggest if a similar program is to be held in the future? a. More interaction and discussion sessions b. Inviting experts from all over the world to be the speakers; site visits and study; more experience sharing sessions c. Add on-line practice session d. Explain and demonstrate how to apply the latest information technology in library work e. Arrange specific sessions for participants to communicate and interact among themselves; let participants discuss with the section supervisors of HKBU Library so as to have a better and thorough understanding of their work and management; as for library visits, it is better to have specific focus and theme in the interaction sessions f. More opportunities to search for information or do research work in each library; to learn and discuss the work of similar sections in different libraries g. In addition to a general theme, addressing a more specific issue would add greater depth to the program h. Organize a two-week training program for library directors, with emphasis on library operation and management, staff management and collection development i. Hands-on practices for participants j. Hands-on practices in each section of the library k. Interaction/direct communication sessions (e.g. recreation activities) among participants as well as between participants and HKBU Library staff to foster better understand; and each participant should prepare a short study report at the end of the program l. 25. What improvement should be done if a similar program is to be held in the future? a. Ask the participants to elect a team leader as their representative. Group the participants according to their job nature or ranks, e.g. library directors, catalogers. Then each group can have in depth discussion of their common interests and their group reports can also be more specific b. More interaction between speakers and participants in the form of small group discussion c. Lengthen the time of lectures, combine lectures of similar topics, and pinpoint each operation/work of the library and discuss it thoroughly. Give a brief introduction of the libraries to be visited beforehand d. It will be good enough if the achievements of this year’s Program can be made next time e. There is no need to visit all the libraries in Hong Kong, just visit some acclaimed libraries with unique and special features f. More time allocated for discussion and communication g. Distribute the handouts of the lectures beforehand h. Give the participants some time to do their research work, assimilate and understand the materials and lectures notes i. Arrange for more discussion and interaction sessions for the participants j. Plan for a short-term (e.g. three-month) library staff exchange program k. Arrange speakers to hold discussion with the participants l. This Program was well-done
