2010 LSWAA Men’s Softball League Rules

1) ONLY DEBEERS CF12 SOFTBALLS WILL BE USED IN THE LEAGUE. Balls will be supplied by the League.

2) Rosters will be limited to a maximum total of 14 players, Any Player 19-21 years of age must be 19 years of age by April 11, 2010, the opening day of the season, and a son of a player on the roster.

3) Rubber cleats or sneakers are allowed, NO METAL SPIKES

4) Player must either slide or avoid contact. If a player fails to do this they will be called, out, ejected from the game(umps call), and will be not allowed play in the next game(if ejected)

5) Umpire fees are $?? for a 9inning game, and $?? for a 7 inning game. The League fees will pay for the umpires.

6) The umpires are required to wait only 15 minutes after the scheduled start of the game Before calling the game a forfeit.

7) A team must field 9 players at the start of the game. If a player leaves the game and only 8 are available to play, that spot in the lineup becomes an automatic out, unless player leaves with an injury, or illness. (The exception is if player is thrown out of the game by an umpire that spot in the order becomes an out regardless if that player is replaced in the field or batting order) HOWEVER IF A PLAYER COMES TO THE GAME LATE, HE MAY BE INSERTED INTO THE LINEUP for the player that left early, REMOVING THE AUTOMATIC OUT. A player coming late may also be inserted into the lineup and placed at the bottom of the order and is available to play.

8) A team may not let another team use a player from their team to prevent a forfeit.. The umpires are NOT covered to ump a game that is forfeited. If a team forfeits and both managers want to play a game IT WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED A LEAGUE GAME, AND PLAYERS AND MANAGERS WILL NOT BE COVERED BY INSURANCE. IT’S NOT WORTH THE RISK.(However practices are covered by insurance and practice games are allowed)

9) We continue to play extra innings in the normal manner.

10) If a player comes out of a game due to injury and misses his spot in the order he may re-enter the game once. He goes back into his spot in the order however if he leaves because of injury a 2nd time his spot becomes an automatic out. 11) ALL PLAYERS MUST SIGN A WAIVER OF LIABILITY FORM BEFORE THEY ARE ALLOWED TO PLAY IN OUR LEAGUE—NO EXCEPTIONS

12) If a team forfeits a game, that team must pay ump fees for BOTH TEAMS. All fees will be paid by the League and the deductions will come out of each team.

13) You May have a DH for the pitcher, but they can never play in the field. If that pitcher is replaced that player can play in the field but not bat(the DH will bat for them). The pitcher can also be replaced by somebody already in the lineup and the replacement pitcher will bat for themselves. However if you have a player not in the lineup and want to replace the pitcher with that player they can replace the pitcher and the DH will bat for that replacement pitcher.

16) New balls come in top of 1st, bottom of 1st..

17) You may bat more than 11 batters if you choose(10 in field plus EH-extra hitters) in effect have more than one EH, you may bat everyone that shows up. HOWEVER IF PLAYER HAS TO LEAVE GAME EARLY ie: barbeque at aunt sally, or whatever. THAT PLACE IN LINEUP BECOMES AN AUTOMATIC OUT,(unless that player informs the other team PRIOR to the game and the lineup doesn’t go below 9 players then there is no automatic out) If you HAVE SOMEONE NOT IN LINEUP. YOU MAY SUB THAT PERSON AS YOU WOULD A REGULAR POSITION PLAYER. You may also sub EH’S into the field at anytime. 18) Up to 2 designated runner’s (must inform other team of who is being run for prior to the game) Last batted out runs. However in case of injury may use more than two runners (no fake injuries please, this rule is for sportsmanship purposes only, we are old so please use this exception fairly.) 19)
