Statement: Our children and our future deserve the best. Funding education is Sam’s top priority. Providing quality education demands that we address our constitutional “paramount duty.” We can no longer delay and procrastinate. Reforms are law; we must fund them. The Legislature must step up and address the needs of students and educators by meeting the funding demands of the Supreme Court’s McCleary decision.

Sam is a recognized education, environmental, and election reform leader. A former public school teacher, school board member and state employee, he strongly supports fair treatment and pay for public employees. Please vote for Sam.

Franklin Edwards (States No Party Preference)

Other Professional Experience: He’s been a Union carpenter for 22 years. A current member of South Sound Carpenters Local 129. Leadership postions as General Forman and Forman throughout his career.

Education: Graduate of Natrona County High School Casper, Wyoming. Class of 1992. 4 year Apprenticeship through carpenters union. He has kept current on latest innovations of the construction and carpentry fields. Community Service: Seven years assistant football coach, for Black Hills Junior Football League. Board member of South Sound Youth Athletics non profit. Organization dedicated to youth sports. Youth T-ball coach, Thurston County Parks and Rec, and Thurston County Food Bank.

Statement: Mr Edwards is a Union Carpenter of local 129. He is passionate about protecting unions collective bargaining rights. He will work to ensure taxes that are collected on all state transportation projects are kept in transportation projects instead of going into the state’s general fund. He believes taxes generated by marijuana sales under 502 will fill any gaps that the transportation-tax proposal would leave in state accounts that fund K-12 schools and government agency programs. He supports laws keeping medical and recreational marihuana separate, and no state registry of medical users.
