The previous structure created islands of IT infrastructure as well as many security issues.

Keller Furniture, Inc, Louisville, KY (Jan 2004-Feb 2005) - Company closed Previously public company and taken private in 2004. Company was established in 1895. Director of Information Technology

Responsible for all Information Systems strategy and infrastructure at Keller, a wood case goods furniture manufacturer. Member of the Keller Leadership Team that was essentially the company’s managing board. Hired to restructure the complete IS strategy as the company changed from a domestic fully integrated manufacturer to an importer and distributor of the same products. Joined Keller as part of a "turn around team" to restructure the entire company.

Held dual responsibilities as: Global Director IM Architecture (reporting to CIO in Germany) and also IM Relationship Manager for the Americas  Leadership and Management - Local management of the IM Group based in Louisville, KY. Previously local Manager of Information Technology for the same company (3+ years). Managed all IT functions in Louisville, KY and 6 US manufacturing plants. This position was a mix of hands on technical skills and management of a 12 person staff and included responsibility for overall architectural design of all IT elements.  IT Operations - Responsible for the Louisville data center with over 28 NT servers (email, file, print, payroll, Web hosting), 12 UNIX servers (SAP, email, VPN, firewall), two VAX (legacy) systems, and SAP radio frequency (RF) bar code system.  Network Architecture - Responsible for voice communications and PBX management, multi-building Local Area Network (LAN) including a Wireless LAN (WLAN) access and wireless site to site LAN systems, a multi- carrier frame relay Wide Area Network (WAN) in 3 time zones.  End User Support - Support for over 600 PC desktops running NT and Windows 2000.

American Water Heater Company, Johnson City, TN (July 1996-Dec 1998)

Director of Information Systems for a $250+ million water heater manufacturer with six major locations. Activities ranged from hands on software development, DBA, and network activities, in addition to supervision and strategic planning for the entire company for Information Systems.  Leadership and Management - Responsible for a 10 person staff  Operations - Hardware consisted of four HP9000 machines, four NT servers, three Novell servers, and two Citrix servers  Software - ERP system was ManMan/X under HP UNIX (derivative of Baan) and Oracle RDBMS  Bar Code Warehouse Materials Management - Developed a custom Radio Frequency Bar Code warehouse management system to track rapid water heater production (one heater produced every 17 seconds)  Systems Architecture and Network – Design and support of voice, LAN, and frame relay WAN.  EDI – Experience with high velocity customer order processing via EDI (400-500 orders per day). Held dual department management responsibilities in MIS and Engineering for NewBold Corporation (formerly a division of DataCard Corporation) an international manufacturer and distributor of plastic card imprinters and plastic card products. Started in MIS and later managed the Engineering Group in addition to the MIS function.

MIS Manager (6 years)  Management and Leadership - This position was a combination of hands on and management covering all aspects of IT.  Multifunctional and Cross Functional Teams - Due to the dual department responsibilities projects frequently involved IT and Manufacturing Engineering (shop floor support). These included a computer integrated semi- automated production line and a paperless high velocity mass customization assembly line.  Support and Operations - Responsible for support, maintenance, and enhancements to all manufacturing, and general accounting systems (ASK ManMan Classic).  Software Development - Responsible for development and support of a custom order processing system, a custom repair center order processing system, and a variety of other systems hosted on an HP 3000 MPE/ix.  High Velocity Distribution – Designed and built a high velocity distribution system for American Express merchants that was capable of fulfilling 800 orders per day each customized to the specific merchant.

Engineering Manager  Management and Leadership - Position was a combination of hands on engineering skills and management that integrated both mechanical engineering and IT skills including shop floor automation projects.  Product Design - Responsible for the supervision of the Design Engineering Group that developed and implemented new product designs and cost reduction projects for older products. Participated directly in the design of one new product using a small PIC chip for electronic control.  Shop Floor Support - Responsible for the Manufacturing Engineering Group that maintained all shop floor equipment, fixtures, and shop floor automation.  Shop Floor Automation - Architected and developed software for a shop floor PLC driven real time production monitoring system that provided "neon sign" live status data. Architected the software portion of a high velocity paperless mass customization system for American Express merchant imprinter distribution.
