Goal & Objectives The goal of this homework is to design and develop future plans for .1 power systems. The objectives are to carry out the load flow and fault studies for the given power system under various operating scenarios. The system studies may be performed . through ETAP
homework .2
Phases I Steady State Studies for an existing system
.a. Enter the system data for the given power system. System data are given in Tables 1 -4
b. Run the load flow program and record the bus voltages, active and reactive power of .busses and line-flows c. Given the voltage range of 0.95-1.05 pu, report any voltage violations an. Report also any violation in generated reactive power, line ratings and transformer capacity. d. Perform a .% summer loading condition where all load are increased by 30
e. Suggest and implant corrective actions for the network. These may involve shunt capacitor installation, new lines, or new transformers. The cost of system re-enforcement .should be calculated and reported
Phase II Development of new Plans and System Studies
.a. System future loads have increased by 15% at all buses from their normal levels
b. A new loading center at of 140 MW + 80 MVAR at 230 kV was established. The distance from bus 2 is 30 km and from bus 3 is 60 km. A generations site of 50 MW 13.8 kV is located . nearby
. c. Connect the new busbars to the network through properly chosen configurations
.d. Perform system studies to satisfy operating conditions
Phase III Development of new Plans and System Studies a. Run the short circuit program for three-phase and single-line to ground faults at each bus .separately for the original network b. Run the short circuit program for three-phase and single-line to ground faults at each bus .separately for the future network
.c. Identify the largest short circuit level at each bus for each study case
