Planning

The following planning applications have been considered by the Parish Council: 13/00079/FUL Erection of extension to existing porch – 14 Morleys Road – no objections.

Village Hall Centenary Celebrations

A celebration of Earls Colne Village Hall Centenary took place at the Village Hall on Saturday, 12th January. Members of the Parish Council would like to pass on their thanks to all who supported the event. Special thanks to Christine Attmere for the wonderful ‘Village Hall’ cake, to Honywood School Band and to Stane Street Players. Also to Zumba, Tai Chi and Karate club members who regularly use the hall and who provided very enjoyable demonstrations during the afternoon.

Centenary Award 2013

Application forms for the Parish Council`s 2013 Centenary Award will be available from the Parish Clerk from January 2013 or can be downloaded from the Parish Council`s website www.earlscolne.org

Any village organisation which is charitable or non profit-making is eligible to apply for this annual award, which is usually split between several different clubs/organisations. Amenity Waste Vehicle

The Amenity Waste Vehicle will next be visiting Earls Colne on Saturday 2nd March 2013 at the following locations:

9 a.m. – 10 a.m. De Vere Road 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. York Road 11 a.m. – 12 noon Tey Road Close

The following items will not be accepted: car batteries; liquids including paint; tyres; fridges; freezers.

Hospital Hopper

A free shuttle service for the elderly and disabled is now available to Earls Colne residents. The service operates Mondays to Fridays and offers a return service to Broomfield Hospital, Halstead Hospital and Braintree Community Hospital. To book in advance ring 01376 327357.

Heart and Sole Health Walks Scheme

Earls Colne walks take place every Thursday starting in front of the Co-op at 10 a.m. The circular walks last approximately 30 – 40 minutes and are led by an experienced leader. Regular 30 minute walks can reduce blood pressure and cholesterol, aid weight loss, de-stress and relax, improve stamina and strengthen bones. There will be coffee afterwards. Village Agent

The Village Agent, Peter Darlington, provides a face to face signposting service for people living in rural communities. He can provide help with financial entitlement, home fire safety & security, housing & getting jobs done, support opportunities for family or carers, travel & community transport, healthy living advice, local services and much more. He can also assist elderly or disabled people who are having difficulties with the Digital Switchover. Peter can be contacted on 07540 720604 or at [email protected] . He is also available at the Pump House Surgery on the third Friday of each month between 1000 and 1200, and at the Library on the last Tuesday of the month between 1500 and 1700.

Earls Colne Village Hall

The Village Hall, which is located in York Road, was extensively refurbished 1991 and now offers comprehensive facilities for parties, weddings, events and activities in two halls.

Hall Facilities at-a-glance: Large Main Hall with Stage and Bar area; Back Hall with separate toilet facilities; Attractive Reception and Foyer; Spacious Kitchen facilities; Generously sized, soft seated chairs; Committee Room; Excellent Disabled access and Disabled Toilet; Good parking at rear.

Tuesday Lunch Club

Do you live alone, in or near Earls Colne, and like meeting people? There are vacancies at the lunch club held once a fortnight in Earls Colne Village Hall. The cost of a two course lunch and tea/coffee is £3.50 Please contact Helen Collins on 01787 223880 to book a place or for more details. Unfortunately transport cannot be provided at the moment.

Next Meeting

The next meeting of the Parish Council will take place at 7.00 p.m. on Wednesday 20th March in the Council Chamber in the Village Hall. Members of the public are welcome to attend the meeting and may address the Council during the 15 minute public session.
