Klein ISD Project Center Rules
The Klein ISD project Centers are provided for the Agri-Science students to raise animal projects for curriculum enhancement and assistance in meeting state mandated SAEP requirements.
Stall / Pen space availability, first priority is given to projects for the KISD Project Show. Facilities for animals intended for shows other than KISD are of secondary concern, and pens /stalls may not be available for that purpose.
1. All KISD policies will be followed at all times at the project centers. 2. NO alcoholic beverages, controlled substances, or firearms will be allowed. Any student or parent in possession of these items will have their project evicted. 3. All students that intend to use the project center must attend a mandatory meeting with parent or guardian. Failure to attend will result in not being able to use the facilities. 4. Failure to attend farm workdays, without teacher excused absence could result in loss of $50 / workday from your show check. 5. The cleanliness of the project center is the direct responsibility of every student who has a project. The teacher will assign specific cleanup duties. All feces and other organic waste must be deposited in large dumpster (not on ground) and all other waste generated at the project center deposited in the small dumpster. No feces or mud is allowed to be left in wheelbarrows, Deposited behind pens, or around pen areas. If feces or mud is found behind your pen or near your pen or in front of your pen to the line in the pig barn you will be ticketed. The cleanliness of the project center includes your assigned pen, community areas, proper storage of district equipment and supplies. All materials, feed boxes, hay etc. must be stored in designated area. No storage allowed in alleyway. Failure to maintain proper cleanliness of facility will result in disciplinary action and / or eviction. 6. The project center will open at 5:30 am until 10:00 pm each day by the Klein Police Dept, however the outside gate must be opened and locked with the combination lock whenever entering or leaving the facility. Last person to leave must lock gate. 7. Animal ownership may not change without teacher approval. 8. Teachers will make stall/ pen assignments for each student project. The assignments will not be changed without teacher approval. If your animal is placed in a pen that is not your assigned pen, student will receive a ticket. 9. NO additions, subtractions, modifications, or construction relating to electricity, carpentry, plumbing or location may be made without approval. 10. The student is responsible for safe use of electricity on the Project Center. The use of electrical devices or extension cords must meet NEC and UL electrical codes. 11. Project Center should not be damaged in anyway, this includes but is not limited to sitting on gates or panels, throwing rocks, and damages caused by automobiles. 12. Any accident or safety hazard is to be reported immediately to teacher. 13. Students and immediate family and other FFA members are the only people allowed on the farm facilities past the Klein gate (they are allowed in parking area). No guests allowed (friends or others). No exceptions. 14. Students, parents or guests are limited to driving on designated areas only. Drivers should drive slowly and with caution while inside or outside fenced areas. Consider, roadways which lead to project center an extension of center and avoid excessive noise, recklessness, littering, or other disruptive displays, whether inside or near project center. 15. No parking past the orange line in front of the main gate. Do Not block the main gate. Anyone found blocking the main gate or past the line will be subject to ticketing. You can unload feed by the main gate then park and then take feed to barn. 16. No animals shall be abused in anyway whether related to daily care, training, or malicious action. Abuse could result in immediate disciplinary action and / or eviction. 17. Students must administer prescribed medications when advised by the teacher or vet, if failure to do so would affect health of other student projects. 18. Animals may not enter other barns of different species. 19. Students and family members may not feed, move, water or provide any other care regardless of intent to other student projects without permission from the owner. 20. Sand and / or other bedding must follow guidelines outlined by teacher. 21. No pets will be allowed at project center, without approval of Advisor, this includes dogs of all sizes and cats, which are “ barn cats”. 22. All animals must be removed from project center within 2 weeks following the project show. Projects not removed will become property of FFA chapter and sold (excluding approved Breeding projects). 23. All gates must be locked when you exit the facilities to ensure animals are kept safe. 24. All projects kept at the project center will be clipped for KISD project show on clip days assigned by the ag teachers. No animals will be clipped any other days at the project center (ag farm). Failure to attend assigned clip day results in an unclipped animal. 25. All pens must be cleaned up by the date given by the ag teachers to their specifications. If not cleaned by that date then a $25 fee will be assessed and student will continue to lose $25 every week they do not clean their pen. This fee will be taken from their show checks and will slow down their receipt of show check. a. Steer pens – all mud, manure, and wet spots must be removed and sand raked smooth, no new sand added b. Lamb & Goat pens – raked/ dug down to hard pack and swept out, no new sand c. Pig Pens – dig down 1-2 inches below concrete the entire length of the pen, no new sand added d. Poultry pens – remove all shavings/ rice hulls to hard ground, no new sand, shavings or rice hulls. 26. Any student who does not abide by the rules of the project center will be subject to the following disciplinary action by the teacher: 1st offense: Warning Ticket 2nd offense: $20 Ticket and Parental & Appropriate campus administrator contact 3rd offense: $40 Ticket and Parental & Appropriate campus administrator contact 4th offense: Eviction from the farm 27. Any evicted project must be removed within three days of notification or the animal will become the property of the FFA chapter and sold. 28. A yearly fee (project show will be end of year) will be charged prior to move -in. Cattle ( per hd. ) $ 120.00 Swine ( per hd. ) $ 30.00 Sheep / Goat ( per hd.) $ 20.00 Poultry $ 15.00
29. Any violation of any above rules will result in disciplinary action determined by ticketing or ag teacher discretion. 30. The Agri-Science Department, FFA chapter, Klein ISD, or teachers are not responsible for any loss or damage to any person, property, or livestock, which may occur on the project center. Students and parents assume all risks, and should consider insurance policies which cover animal projects and other property. 31. The Agri-Science teachers reserve the right to make decisions concerning the project center rules, projects, and project center. 32. In emergency situations a temporary suspension of rules can occur when all agriculture teachers are in agreeance. ** I have read the farm rules and understand them completely and will abide by them.**
