PUSHKIN-THEMED COMPETITION FOR UK SCHOOL STUDENTS TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. GENERAL CLAUSES 1.1. This document outlines the Terms and Conditions of the Pushkin-themed Competition for UK School Students (hereinafter — Competition), including organisation, methodology, participation and selection of the winners. 1.2. The Competition is financed by a grant in the form of a subsidy for legal entities provided by the Federal Target Program ‘Russian Language’ 2016- 2020 (hereinafter – FTPRL). 1.3. The Competition is organised by the Ministry for Education and Science of the Russian Federation. 1.4. The Federal State Budget Educational Institution ‘Pushkin Russian Language Institute’ (hereinafter — Pushkin Institute) conducts the Competition with the support of the British Council and as part of the events of Russia-UK Year of Language and Literature 2016. 1.5. Participants of the Competition will be UK school students. 1.6. The major tasks and objectives of the Competition are as follows: . Extension of cross-cultural dialogue within the framework of Russia- UK Year of Language and Literature 2016 . Building a positive image of Russia abroad . Popularisation of Russian literature and culture among UK school students; . Expanding the scope of cross-cultural and Russia-specific studies among UK school students . Familiarising UK school students with the works of Alexander Pushkin and other Russian poets . Increasing engagement of UK school students with the Russian culture . Growing the number of foreign students learning Russian, particularly online via the Internet using the Education in Russian portal 1.7. The working language of the Competition is Russian. 1.8. The Organisational Committee together with Methodology Committee and Competition Committee are established for the duration of the Competition. 1.9. Organisational Committee oversees preparation and project management of the Competition. The members of the Organisational Committee are selected from the representatives of the executive branch of government of the Russian Federation along with Pushkin Institute employees and representatives of the British Council. The Chairman is the head of the Committee. 1 1.9.1. The Chairperson of the Organisational Committee is Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. 1.9.2. The Chairperson of the Organisational Committee appoints the deputies and a secretary in charge of the Competition. 1.9.3. The areas of responsibility of the Organisational Committee Chairperson are as follows: . Managing the Organisational Committee . Representing Competition interests among stakeholders on all levels . Presiding at all Organizational Committee meetings 1.9.4. The areas of responsibility of the Organisational Committee are as follows: . Determining the Terms and Conditions of the Competition . Establishing the Methodological Committee and Competition Committee of the Competition . Providing resources for the Competition . Estimating the Competition costs . Selecting the winners of the Competition and conducting the award ceremony 1.9.5. The Competition tasks will be designed by the Methodology Committee comprised of the teachers and researchers of the Pushkin Institute and headed by the Chairperson. Representatives of the British Council provide support in compiling the Competition tasks. 1.9.6. The areas of responsibility of the Methodology Committee Chairperson are as follows: . Managing the Methodology Committee . Presiding over the Methodology Committee meetings 1.9.7. The areas of responsibility of the Methodology Committee are as follows: . Designing the Competition tasks including demo versions . Developing evaluation criteria and methods . Preparing the Competition tasks and results for publication on the Education in Russian portal 1.9.8. The Competition submissions will be evaluated by the Competition Committee comprised of the leading specialists of the Pushkin and headed by the Chairperson. 1.9.9. The areas of responsibility of the Competition Committee Chairperson are as follows: . Managing the Competition Committee . Presiding over the Competition Committee meetings . Signing the minutes of Competition Committee meetings 1.9.10. The areas of responsibility of the Competition Committee are as follows: . Evaluation of the works submitted to the Competition
2 . Compiling the final protocols on the Competition results . Selecting the winners of the Competition 1.10. The Competition will be conducted in three stages: . Registration via the Education in Russian portal . Completing the tasks and entering submissions into the Competition . Evaluation of the submissions, selecting the winners and award ceremony
2. COMPETITION PROCEDURE
2.1. All Competition participants register via the Education in Russian portal and gain access to a personal account. 2.1.1. The functions of the personal account of the participant are as follows: . To store the participants’ data, including the registration number . To provide a method of delivering the Competition tasks . To inform the participants of their results (number of points gained) . To inform the participants about the Competition events 2.1.2. The organisers of the Competition provide personal data for processing and storing in accordance with the Federal Law N 152-FZ ‘On Personal Data’ dated 26 June 2006. 2.2. The Competition tasks will be available to the participants online on the Education in Russian portal. 2.2.1. The participant gain an access to the Competition tasks via the Education in Russian portal. The Organisational Committee will only review papers submitted via the Education in Russian portal. 2.2.2. The results of the Competition tasks will be available on the personal accounts of the participants and on the Education in Russian portal no later than 14 December 2016. 2.3. The Competition tasks will include open questions centred on Russian literature, including the works of celebrated Russian poets and connections between Russian and world literature. 2.4. Official information on the Competition is available on the Education in Russian portal.
3. COMPETITION TIMEFRAME 3.1. The Competition is conducted from 5 October 2016 to 15 December 2016, in the following stages:
3 . Registration via the Education in Russian portal from 5 October 2016 (10:00) to 18 November 2016 (18:00). . Submissions will be accepted between 5 October and 19 November 2016. . Announcement of results and award ceremony: 14-15 December 2016. 3.2. The Competition schedule uses Moscow time (GMT+3).
4. COMPETITION RESULTS 4.1. Each participant will receive an electronic version of the certificate of participation via Education in Russian portal. 4.2. Three winners of the Competition will be awarded a voucher for a 1- week Russian language course at Pushkin Institute Summer School in summer 2017. The prize also includes city tours. 4.3. Winners and participants will be awarded with diplomas, prizes and souvenirs. 4.4. Diplomas for the winners and participants of the Competition are to be approved by the Organisational Committee Chairperson. 4.5. Upon the request of the participants or winners, the Organisational Committee provides electronic versions of the diploma via the Education in Russian portal. 4.6. Electronic version of the Competition diploma of a winner or a participant available at the Education in Russian portal is not a legally binding document. 4.7. The Organisational Committee reserves the right to establish additional awards for the participants of the Competition.
