<P<Li>Cautious Carl and I Want Thank Everyone for 15 GREAT YEARS on Ebay. Keep

Founded by Ernest Francillon and Auguste Agassiz in the year 1832, the Longines Watch Co. of Switzerland was established in the “Long Meadows” (translated: Longines) near the town of St. Imier. Winner of countless horology awards, their wristwatches are among the best in the world, on par with the “big boys” of the Swiss watch making profession including its chief rival Omega.

I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage Longines timepiece, a men’s fancy case 14kt Solid Rose & Yellow Gold two tone model that dates to ca 1941 and is in excellent condition. I have only come this Drivers model once before, its case solid 14k rose gold while its hinged (swivel) lugs feature yellow gold center sections.

Triple-signed for Longines, it measures 38mm lug tip to lug tip and 22mm in width (23.5mm with rose gold winding crown). This works out to be 1-1/2 inches long by 7/8 of an inch wide, not including the crown, a mid size equally suited to a man’s or woman’s wrist. It is powered by its original 17 jewel, manual wind Longines mechanism that has been fully serviced by my trusted watchmaker David to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.

The silver color, enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, professionally restored to its original status in the recent past. It features a 60 minute outer track border, raised gold numbers and gold dot markers, gold leaf style hands and a square, slightly recessed sub- seconds dial with 60 second outer track and sweep gold seconds hand. Signed LONGINES below the 12.

The solid glass crystal is in excellent, clear condition. The two-tone case is a two-piece design that is 14 Karat Rose Gold with Solid 14k Yellow Gold center lug sections and matching color winding crown. This gold is almost a green gold in hue and nicely complements the rose gold color. This case is in excellent PLUS condition, absolutely NO flaws whatsoever and the lugs swivel as they should to comfortably fit the wrist. The matching rose finished winding crown (correctly unmarked for the period) is in excellent order and operates smoothly.

Turning the watch over I find that the 14k solid rose gold back lid is in excellent to mint condition, stamped 14K GOLD. Absolutely no wear or engravings, past or present.

Inside I find a clean and fully serviced manual wind mechanism, signed Longines Watch Co., Swiss – Seventeen 17 Jewels [Grade] 8LN, LXW. The serial number is 6,014,158 – dating the watch to 1940 - 1941 as per published records. The inside case is stamped CASED AND TIMED IN USA BY LONGINES – 14K with case number 149,596 below.

This fine watch has been cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. Comes fitted with a new 14mm full length genuine calf leather strap that will fit a wrist 6 inches to 8 inches in size. All in all a beautiful, ready to wear timepiece from one of Switzerland’s very best. You will not be disappointed with this unique two-tone Art Deco Longines!

  • Cautious Carl and I want thank everyone for 15 GREAT YEARS on eBay. Keep on ticking!

The allure of the famous kaleidoscope dial Cocktail watch…sometimes imitated but never duplicated. The following ladies example dates to the mid 1960s and was made by none other than the Ernest Borel Watch Company, a respected firm founded in 1859 and located in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. The Borel kaleidoscope dial watch is prominently featured on page 245 of Faber and Unger’s American Wristwatches: Five Decades of Style and Design , stating that this model was first introduced in the late 1940s. About no other watch can I say “to see it in action is to appreciate it” for its two revolving gold and black center dials are in constant motion, creating the effect of a flower blossom opening and closing, incredible.

This quadruple-signed timepiece measures 32mm lug tip to lug tip and 25mm in width (26.5mm with winding crown). In inches this works out to be 1-1/4” long by 1” wide, not counting the signed original crown. It has been fully serviced prior to auction and its original 17 jewel, Synchron 26 caliber mechanism winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.

The dial is all original and in excellent condition, featuring a gold 60 minute and inlaid black enamel marker 12 hour dial, RED metal hour and minute hands that rotate around the outer edge and the famous Kaleidoscope center! Signed BOREL below the 12 and Modele Depose COCKTAIL Swiss Patent at the base.

The acrylic crystal is in excellent condition. The case, in excellent shape, is 14kt Yellow Gold electroplated (to 20 microns, stamped on the underside of the bottom lug) and is signed “Ernest Borel – Swiss Made” on the left case side. I particularly like the curved “T Lugs” of this model. The original winding crown features the Synchron symbol and in great shape, winding and setting correctly.

Turning the watch over I see that this watch has a display back so you can view the movement ticking away. The original crystal covering the mechanism is in excellent condition, as is the 14kt gold electroplated bezel. The movement is signed Synchron 26 - Seventeen 17 Jewels, Swiss. Synchron S.A. was the parent company of Ernest Borel and part of the Cyma group owned by Aubry Frère, SA.

This original Cocktail watch has been completely disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It comes complete with a new 12mm black Kreisler leather strap (similar to Cordovan) with gold finished buckle. All in all a collectible and FUN to wear watch that will get noticed on your wrist, thanks for dropping by to take a peek!

The story of the Eterna Watch Co. of Grenchen, Switzerland reads as a long list of achievements in the world of horology…countless innovations have originated from its factory, and they are prized watches amongst those “in the know,” primarily collectors in Europe and Japan. The quality is remarkable, and one look at their movements tells the story, very high grade.

Founded on November 7, 1856, the first Eterna watch factory began producing pocket watch movements, quickly followed by complete timepieces. Urs Schild took control of the company in 1866, and was noted as the inventor of the pocket “alarm” watch (which Schild patented in 1908) for use on the wrist.

Through the 1930s and onwards the company had a succession of technical innovations, teamed with its movement-making subsidiary ETA. This included the smallest serially-produced wristwatch, with a baguette movement, in 1930; an eight-day alarm in the early thirties; the first Eterna automatic (self-winding) wristwatch in 1938, a men's model with a swinging winding-weight; an automatic wristwatch in 1942, considered remarkably small and thin for its time; and the futuristic winding-rotor on ball-bearings launched in 1948 for the Eterna-Matic self-winding wristwatches. Sorry if this introduction is a bit long but I wanted to emphasize that these watches were every bit as good (if not sometimes better) as Omega and Longines models from the same period.

I am pleased to offer for sale the following men’s Eterna model, an ETERNA-MATIC model that dates to late 1950s. This timepiece is in excellent condition, a striking black dial example that is quite handsome in person.

Quadruple-signed, it measures 38mm lug tip to lug tip and 31mm in width (33.5mm with original Eterna signed crown). In inches this works out to be just over 1-1/2” long by just shy of 1-1/4” wide, not counting the crown. It is powered by its original and higher-grade 17 jewel, rotor automatic movement (Swiss Patented, as marked) that has been fully serviced by my skilled watchmaker David to ensure it winds smoothly and runs accurately.

The black, enamel finished dial is in excellent condition and has been professionally restored to its correct, original status. It features a 60 second outer track, silver painted Arabic numerals, original silver steel Lance style hands and original sweep center seconds hand. Signed ETERNA-MATIC below the 12 with silver ball “five star” company trademark. It is further signed SWISS at the base of the dial.

The new hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent shape with no flaws (the original was also acrylic). The two-piece case is solid stainless steel and in excellent condition. The matching steel winding crown features the FIVE STAR company trademark and is in excellent shape, winding and setting smoothly.

Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is stainless steel, screw down in design and in excellent shape with no personal engravings or wear. It carries the serial number 3888849. Inside is a beautiful and truly higher-end mechanism signed ETERNA-MATIC WATCH CO., SWISS PAT[ENT]. – ADJUSTED TWO 2 POSITIONS, SEVENTEEN 17 JEWELS, SWISS, EXA. The movement serial number is #4,087510. The inside of the case lid is stamped ETERNA WATCH CO. – SWISS – ACIER INOXYDABLE – A.

This watch has been completely disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly and keeps accurate time. It is fitted on a new and high quality 16mm black deBeer Europa handcrafted Ostrich grain strap with matching chrome steel buckle. All in all an elegant and higher quality Swiss Eternamatic for the discerning vintage watch collector… you can’t go wrong.

Founded in 1892, the Hamilton Watch Company of Lancaster, PA would not officially start its watch production until March 1894, producing pocket watches mainly of railroad grade. By 1908 Hamilton was producing a lady’s pendant watch and by 1919 a small line of wristwatches were available, but for women only! Yes, Hamilton entered the men’s wristwatch market rather late, introducing its first non-military gents watches in November 1922, a good 10 years after Illinois, Elgin and Waltham. Well, they quickly caught up with the other American firms, producing the highest-grade American watches ever made.

I am very pleased to offer for sale the following vintage Hamilton timepiece, a ladies ca 1953 14kt Solid White Gold cocktail model with fancy hinged, swivel lugs that contour to your wrist. This watch is in excellent condition, complete with 20 Genuine Diamonds set into case and lug sections.

It measures a LONG 53mm end to end and 16.5mm in width (18mm with crown). This converts to a long 2-1/8 inches in total length by 5/8 of an inch wide, not including the crown. It is fitted on black cord bracelet strap that makes the overall length 7-1/2 inches, easily adjusted shorter (or longer) by me before mailing to the winning bidder. It is powered by its original and higher-grade 750 caliber, 17 jewel manual wind USA made movement – truly topnotch. It has been fully serviced by my certified watchmaker David to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.

The silver color, enamel finished dial is in great condition, a couple tiny specks of age but showing very nicely in person. This dial features a 60 minute outer chapter, black enamel painted numbers and original Lance-style, black lacquer hands. Signed HAMILTON below the12.

The gently curved acrylic crystal is in excellent, clear condition. The two-piece case is in excellent PLUS order, a fancy hinged lug example in 14 Karat Solid White Gold that also features 20 Genuine Diamonds of high clarity and nice sparkle. The matching white gold finished winding crown is in excellent shape, operating smoothly.

Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is in excellent shape, no wear or engravings and stamped 14K. Inside I find a clean manual wind mechanism signed Hamilton USA, 17 Jewels [Grade] 750. The serial number is T746,630, dating it to ca 1953 as it corresponds to 750 grade production records. The inside of the case back is stamped MAJOR WATCH CASE CO, 14KT GOLD with case number below.

This lovely timepiece has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted with a new old stock black cord bracelet with matching color fittings that measures a total length of 7-1/2 inches. If you need the band shortened (or lengthened) just let me know and I will have it custom sized before I mail it, no charge. Well then, who is going to be the new owner of this beautiful, diamond set Hamilton? If you think the photos make it look tempting you will never want to take it off when you see it in person!

The history of the Girard-Perregaux Watch Company begins in 1791, when the watchmakers Bautte and Mouline founded a factory in Geneva to manufacture watches. In 1856 the watchmaker constant Girard married Marie Perregaux and the unified firm of “Girard – Perregaux” came into being. In 1906 G. Perregaux acquired the earlier firm of Bautte and Mouline, and today the firm is located in La Chaux-de-Fonds. They have always made a name for themselves in the realm of wristwatches through their unique creativity and high quality mechanisms, one of a select few who produce many of its movements entirely in-house. Today, Girard Perregaux watches are among the most expensive timepieces money can buy.

I am very pleased to offer for sale the following vintage men’s timepiece from the firm, an original 14kt Yellow Gold Electroplated elegant Retro Modern dress model from the mid 1960s. This watch is quadruple-signed and in excellent condition, everything is original except for the new Hadley Roma leather strap.

Its oval shape case measures 38mm lug tip to lug tip and 26mm in width (28mm with original GP gold finished crown). This works out to be 1-1/2 inches long by just over 1 inch wide (without the winding crown), a somewhat smaller gents watch by today’s standards. It is ideal for the gentleman who prefers a smaller watch or for a woman who prefers a larger size vintage timepiece. It is powered by its original and higher grade, 17 jewel manual wind Girard-Perregaux mechanism that has been fully serviced and it is running well, keeping accurate time.

The 100% original gold, matte enamel finished dial is in mint condition. It is guaranteed to be untouched since it left the factory over 45 years ago. Being a Retro Modern dress model the design is minimalist in style, featuring original gold and black lacquer finish hands. Signed Girard-Perregaux below the 12 and Swiss at the base of the dial.

The original oval shaped, acrylic crystal is in excellent, clear condition. The two-piece, GP-signed case is 14 Karat Yellow Gold Electroplated and in excellent PLUS shape, stamped as such between the bottom lugs. The original GP signed gold winding crown is in excellent condition, operating smoothly.

Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is in excellent order like the rest of the watch, free of any wear or engravings, past or present. It is stamped 9638 MA. Inside is a clean, higher grade mechanism signed Girard-Perregaux, Seventeen 17 Jewels, Swiss. The inside case lid is finely engine turned and stampedGIRARD PERREGAUX 1791, SWISS – STAINLESS STEEL BACK.

This wristwatch has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled & regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly, keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new 16mm black matte finish Hadley Roma genuine leather strap with matching gold color buckle. I think this is an excellent example of what midcentury Retro Modern design was all about. Coming from one of Switzerland’s finest watch firms and being in such immaculate original shape makes it that much more desirable.

          • Cautious Carl and I want thank everyone for 15 GREAT YEARS on eBay. Keep on ticking!

Founded in 1892, the Hamilton Watch Company of Lancaster, PA would not officially start its watch production until March 1894, having first chosen the name “Columbian Watch Co.” but this name was already copyrighted by the Waterbury Co. The name Hamilton was derived from Lancaster’s founding father, Mr. Andrew Hamilton, a Scottish-born attorney who was instrumental in the growth of Lancaster.

By 1908 Hamilton was producing a lady’s pendant watch and near the end of WWI a small line of military style watches were available for men. Hamilton never looked back, arguably producing the highest quality American made watches from the 1920s through the 1960s.

I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage smaller men’s model from the Hamilton firm, an extra nice and original “TV Dial” Retro Modern example that dates to the mid 1960s. I don’t know the name of this model but it is similar in design to the “Lord Lancaster A” albeit without a sub-seconds dial. As noted, it is excellent and original – essentially New Old Stock condition with only the band being new.

Quadruple-signed (dial, crown, case and mechanism), it measures 33mm end to end and 25mm in width (27.5mm with original Hamilton- signed crown). In inches this works out to be just over 1-1/4”long by 1” wide without the original winding crown, a smaller, ¾ size gents size equally suited to a woman’s wrist today. It is powered by its original 17 jewel Hamilton Swiss manual wind mechanism that’s been fully serviced by my trusted watchmaker David so it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.

The 100% original silver, enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, guaranteed untouched since it left the factory and in immaculate shape. It features applied 18k solid gold numbers, incised gold hour markers and original gold metal hands. Signed HAMILTON below the 12 (with company trademark above the 6) and SWISS at the base of the dial.

The original acrylic crystal is in excellent condition with no flaws. The 10kt Yellow Rolled Gold Plated bezel (body) is in mint condition, complete with Florentine engraving between the lugs. The original yellow gold finished Hamilton- signed winding crown is excellent as well, operating smoothly.

Turning the watch over I note that the stainless steel back lid is in excellent PLUS condition with no wear or engravings. It is stamped “Hamilton” at one edge and “10K RGP Bezel – Stainless Steel Back” on the opposite edge. Inside I find a clean and fully serviced mechanism signed Hamilton 681 – Seventeen 17 Jewels, Swiss HYL. The inside of the case lid is stamped HAMILTON WATCH CO., LANCASTER, PA – 10K RGP BEZEL – STAINLESS STEEL BACK, STAR W.C. CO. with case reference numbers as well.

This new old stock condition Hamilton has been professionally disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated so it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. Comes fitted on a new 16mm black deBeer Paris hand crafted ostrich (grain) calf leather strap with gold finished buckle. All in all an excellent mid 1960s Hamilton that’s ready to be worn and enjoyed for many years to come…they don’t get any nicer or more original than this.

Of all the watches that I collect or sell, this is perhaps the only firm that needs little introduction… having built its business over the last century on high quality, innovation and style. The Rolex Watch Co. of Switzerland was founded in 1908 by Hans Wilsdorf of Germany and brother-in-law Alfred Davis, first setting up shop in London. The early firm of “Wilsdorf & Davis” dealt primarily with the watch manufacturer Hermann Aegler to supply its mechanisms, but by 1919 Wilsdorf had established Manufacture des Montres Rolex, a time when the mechanisms were crafted in Bienne and the watches were hand-finished in Geneva. On average, more than 200 technicians are involved in producing a single Rolex wristwatch, quite remarkable.

I am pleased to offer for sale the following original ladies timepiece from the firm, a stainless steel cased, automatic winding Tudor Oysterdate Princess model from 1968. This reference model 7576 is in excellent, original condition, my photos do not do it (or its beautiful steel blue dial).

Quadruple-signed for Rolex and/or Tudor (case, crown, dial and mechanism, it measures 28mm end to end and 22.5mm in width (25.5mm with original Rolex-signed screw-down crown). This works out to be 1-1/8 inches long by 7/8 of an inch wide, not counting the crown. It is powered by its original 17 jewel, Auto-Princess mechanism (caliber 2555) that winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.

The 100% original steel blue (or midnight blue) dial is in pristine condition, guaranteed untouched since it left the Rolex factory. It features a 60 second outer track border, applied silver hour markers, original silver steel hands with tritium fill, semi quickset date window at the 3 position and sweeping original silver steel seconds hand. Signed TUDOR PRINCESS OYSTERDATE below the raised Tudor Rose trademark and ROTOR SELFWINDING above the 6 marker. It is further signed T SWISS T at the base of the dial.

The original and genuine Rolex hardened acrylic domed crystal is clear and in excellent condition. The case is solid stainless steel and in excellent PLUS shape with absolutely no wear, truly pristine. It is stamped with model ref. number 7576/0 between the top lugs and serial number #676,310 between the bottom lugs. The original screw-down Rolex Oyster-signed crown is stainless steel and in excellent shape, operating as it should.

Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is milled (coin) edged and in excellent condition, stamped Original Oyster Case by Rolex Geneva. Peeking inside I find a fully signed and beautiful Rolex Tudor 17 Jewel movement, signed TUDOR AUTO PRINCESS- SEVENTEEN 17 JEWELS, SWISS. Next to the balance wheel it is stamped with caliber number 2555. The inside of the case lid is fully stamped and hallmarked MONTRES TUDOR, SA, GENEVA SWITZERLAND, PATENTED, STAINLESS STEEL, IV.68. The last stamp indicates the watch was made in the fourth quarter of 1968.

This fine timepiece has been cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It comes fitted on a new 11mm black Kreisler lizard (grain) calf leather strap with matching steel buckle so it’s ready to be worn and enjoyed. All in all a quality watch that will last a lifetime while also proving to be a great investment.

There are nice old watches and then there are beautiful old watches. The following ladies Art Deco timepiece falls into the latter category, made by the highly respected Concord Watch Co. of Switzerland for Tiffany & Co. of New York and dating to ca 1925. In excellent condition, it features a finely engraved 18t Solid White Gold case with solid wire lugs and inlaid black enameling around the bezel.

It measures 26mm lug tip to lug tip and 21mm in width (22.3mm with original finely white gold crown). This works out to be just over 1 inch long by 13/16 of an inch wide, not including the winding crown. Powering this timepiece is a higher-grade 15 jewel, Concord Swiss manual wind mechanism that has been fully serviced by my certified watchmaker David to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping very good, accurate time.

The silver matte enamel finished over sterling silver dial is in excellent condition, featuring a checkered 60 minute outer track border, black enamel Breguet-style numerals and original Breguet-style, blue steel moon tip hands. Signed Tiffany & Co. below the 12 and Swiss at the base of the dial, below the bezel.

The solid glass crystal is in excellent, clear condition with no flaws. The tonneau form, two-piece case is 14 Karat Solid White Gold and in excellent condition, finely engraved around the bezel and featuring inlaid black enameling in excellent shape.

The original white gold (finished) winding crown is in excellent condition, winding and setting smoothly.

Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is in excellent overall condition, perhaps a few light scratches but no wear, dings or personal engravings, very nice and clean. Inside I find a clean Fifteen Jewel mechanism that is signed CONCORD W. CO., SWISS, 15 FIFTEEN JEWELS, CXC. The inside of the case lid is stamped 18Kwith case maker mark and case serial number.

This fine Art Deco timepiece has been completely disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It comes fitted on a new 10mm black Hadley Roma calf leather strap with matching color buckle. It will fit a wrist 5-1/4 inches to 6-34 inches maximum. All in a very fine, ready to wear Tiffany & Co. Concord wristwatch – I think its new owner will be very pleased.

Founded by Ariste Calame in the City of Le Locle in 1882, the Zodiac Watch Co. of Switzerland has long been a sought-after watch amongst collectors, especially those who appreciate vintage sport and diving watches. The Zodiac name was used very early on but was not registered until 1908.

The firm exhibited at the Basle Watch Show in 1949 with the Datagraphic, a calendar watch with moon phases and the Autographic, a self-winding model with visible power reserve indicator that was the official watch of the Swiss Federal Railways. By the late 1950s the Sea Wolf divers watch and Rotographic rotor automatic models would be introduced.

I am pleased to offer for sale the following men’s vintage watch from the firm, an OLYMPOS model that dates to ca 1966 and is in excellent, original condition. This is just the second or third time I’ve had this Mystery dial model before and, unlike other mystery dial models from other Swiss companies (which were placed in more typical round cases), this watch has a very Space Age COSMIC asymmetrical case that resembles Batman’s logo, quite striking!

Original advertisements for this model stated The face of time…in the future. Zodiac’s self-winding Olympos watch is daringly new in design and engineering. The revolutionary dial needs no hour hand…the dial itself revolves to the exact hour! A movable minute hand is incredibly accurate.

Quadruple- signed for Zodiac, its solid stainless steel case measures 42mm lug tip to lug tip and 36mm in width at its widest, (including the Zodiac-signed original set- flush steel crown). This is a good size watch for its era, measuring just over 1-5/8 inches in total length and just over 1-3/8 inches wide. It is powered by its original 17 jewel (Zodiac Caliber 70-72), self-winding rotor automatic mechanism, fully serviced by my trusted watchmaker David just last week to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.

The 100% original silver, enamel finished Mystery dial is guaranteed untouched since leaving the factory and in excellent condition with just a touch of age or patina. It features incised hour markers, original black hands (including the rotating disc hour hand) and is signed Zodiac Olympos, Swiss Made at the base of the dial.

The acrylic crystal is in excellent condition with no flaws. The two-piece case is stainless steel and in excellent condition. The original stainless winding crown is signed with the Zodiac trademark and in excellent shape, winding and setting smoothly.

Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is a snap down, compressor type design signed Zodiac, Water & Shock Resistant, Automatic, Antimagnetic, Swiss. It is in excellent condition with no wear or engravings, superb. Inside I find a clean rotor automatic mechanism (Zodiac 70-72 Caliber, modified from an earlier AS caliber) that is signed Zodiac Ltd., Seventeen 17 Jewels, Swiss, KXF.The inside of the case back is nicely engine turned and stamped ZODIAC LTD., LE LOCLE SWISS - ACIER INOXYDABLE, 702-918.

This timepiece has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It comes fitted with a new 18mm black deBeer Europa ostrich grain, hand crafted strap with matching steel buckle. Ladies and gentleman, I think you will be hard pressed to find a nicer original Zodiac Olympos than this.

Long before the Bulova Watch Company would become famous the world over, long before there was a Bulova Observatory on top of a Fifth Avenue skyscraper, the company existed as a small jewelry store on Maiden Lane, in New York City, owned and operated by Joseph Bulova. Some of us now know that a young shop assistant named John Ballard convinced Joseph to start selling watches directly to other retailers, which led to the establishment of watch factories in Switzerland and the U.S.A. The rest of course is watch history, with Bulova being one of the most recognized names in the field.

Without a doubt, this is one of the nicest ladies Bulova watches I have offered in some time, a 14kt Solid White Gold model set within 4 Sapphires & 2 Diamonds in its finely engraved bezel. In excellent condition, it is triple-signed for Bulova, on the dial, case and mechanism and dates to 1928, as per its date code.

Its case measures 31mm lug tip to lug tip and 17mm in width (20mm with original sapphire crown). In inches this is just shy of 1-1/4 inches long by 5/8 of an inch wide, not including the winding crown. My Bulova-trained watchmaker David has fully serviced its original 15 jewel, manual wind mechanism, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.

The silver matte enamel finished dial is in excellent condition and without flaw. It features black enamel painted Arabic numerals, a crisp checkered 60 minute inner track border, original cobalt blue steel Spade-tip hands and a finely engraved Florentine inner dial, what detail! Signed BULOVA below the 12 and embossed SWISS at the dial base.

The glass crystal is in great condition, removed in some photos to avoid glare. The finely engraved, hinged back case is a 14 Karat Solid White Gold and in excellent PLUS condition. The highlight of the bezel has to be the Four Sapphires & 2 Diamonds, all secure and complete. The top right sapphire has a hairline across the center but this is not noticeable without a magnifying loupe. The original cabochon sapphire winding crown is excellent as well, winding and setting smoothly.

Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is in excellent condition with a floral border and no personal engraving or wear. Peeking inside via the secure hinged back case (opens and closes perfectly), I find a fully serviced and high grade tonneau shaped Fifteen Jewel, manual wind movement – signed Bulova Watch Co., SWISS, [Caliber] 6AF, Fifteen 15 Jewels, Four 4 Adj.. There is also a Crescent Moon date code, indicating a 1928 production date. The inside of the case lid is signed PAT. JUNE 10, 1924, 14K. As any Bulova collector knows, this is a very common Bulova Patent stamp and date, making this a triple-signed timepiece.

Fully serviced, this superb timepiece winds and sets very smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a 10mm matte black leather strap with matching color buckle that will fit a wrist 5-1/4 inches to 6-3/4 inches in size. Folks, this is an excellent example of a quintessential 1920s timepiece. Being solid gold and from Bulova makes it that much nicer – blending Swiss engineering with American Art Deco design.

                    • Cautious Carl and I want thank everyone for 15 GREAT YEARS on eBay. Keep on ticking!

Founded in 1892, the Hamilton Watch Company of Lancaster, PA would not officially start producing watches until 1894. Its first chosen name was the Columbian Watch Company but this had already been copyrighted by the Waterbury Company. The name Hamilton was then chosen - a tribute to Lancaster’s founding father, Mr. Andrew Hamilton, a Scottish-born attorney who was instrumental in the town’s growth.

By 1908 Hamilton was producing a ladies pendant (convertible) watch and, following the USA’s entry into WWI, a small line of military style wire lug trench watches were available for men. Hamilton never looked back, arguably producing the highest quality American made watches from the 1920s through the 1960s.

One such example of Hamilton’s high quality and great design is found in the Piping Rock model, a men’s harder to find (and highly collectible) 14kt Solid Yellow Gold wristwatch first introduced by the firm in 1928 along with its enameled bezel siblings the Coronado and the Spur. This first generation Piping Rock example dates to 1928 – 1929 (as per its serial number) and is in excellent overall condition both inside and out. Only 3,812 of the 1928 model were made in solid yellow gold, as opposed to 5,985 in solid white gold. I can only imagine how many survive today.

Triple-signed for Hamilton, it measures 43mm end to end by 28.5mm in width (30.5mm with winding crown). This works out to be just shy of 1-3/4 inches long by 1-1/8 inches wide, not including the crown. It has been fully serviced by my trusted watchmaker David and its original and correct 19 jewel, 979F grade manual wind mechanism winds and sets smoothly, keeping accurate time.

The silver, butler finish, enamel dial is in mint condition – professionally restored to its correct original appearance. It features a 60 minute outer track border, Hamilton lance- style hands and a separate seconds dial with 60 second outer chapter and ‘sweep’ original blue steel seconds hand. Signed HAMILTON below the 12.

The solid glass crystal is in excellent, clear condition. The three-piece case is crafted of 14 Karat Solid Yellow Gold and is in excellent PLUS shape, truly superb with no wear, made for Hamilton by Schwab & Wuischpard. The highlight of the case is its inlaid enamel bezel with gold Roman numerals – the enameling is very fine overall condition with just some normal fleabites and scratches, typical for this model. The lugs are hinged and in excellent shape, operating as they should. The 100% original matching yellow gold finished winding crown is in excellent order, winding and setting smoothly.

Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is in excellent condition, free of any wear or engravings, past or present. Inside I find a clean and original Nineteen Jewel mechanism (the best Hamilton had for a wristwatch when made) that is signed Hamilton Watch Co., Adjusted 19 Jewels, [Grade] 979-F with serial number #2,900,277, dating it to ca 1928 as per production records. The inside of the case lid is signed HAMILTON W. CO., 14K, LANCASATER, PA 140,209.

This extra nice first generation Piping Rock has been cleaned, oiled & regulated prior to auction, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. Comes fitted on a new 16mm black deBeer hand crafted ostrich (grain) calf leather strap with matching color buckle for a fine look. Folks, you can’t really go wrong with this one as it is not only a pleasure to wear (and show off) but it should prove to be a solid investment over time for its new owner.

I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage men’s model from the Hamilton firm, a late 1960s example in excellent, all original condition. While I don’t know the model name of this stainless steel example, it is LARGER than most Hamilton watches of the era. As noted, it is excellent and original – essentially New Old Stock condition with only the band being new.

Quadruple-signed (dial, crown, case and mechanism), it measures 42m end to end and 37mm in width (39mm with original Hamilton-signed stainless crown). In inches this works out to be just over 1-5/8 inches long by just shy of 1-1/2 inches wide without the original winding crown. It is powered by its original 17 jewel Hamilton Swiss manual wind mechanism that’s been fully serviced by my trusted watchmaker David so it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.

The 100% original silver, brushed enamel finished dial is in MINT condition, guaranteed untouched since it left the factory. It features a 60 second outer track border, raised silver and black hour markers, original silver and black hands with tritium fill and a sweeping RED center seconds hand. Signed HAMILTON below the 12 (with company trademark) and T SWISS T at the base of the dial (the T standing for tritium).

The original acrylic crystal is in excellent condition with no flaws. The two-piece Cushion form all stainless steel case is in PRISTINE condition, featuring a polished bezel, brushed, satin finish bezel and polished sides. The original stainless steel Hamilton-signed winding crown is perfect as well, operating smoothly.

Turning the watch over I note that the stainless steel, screw down back lid is in excellent – mint condition with no wear or engravings. It is stamped HAMILTON at one edge and Stainless Steel, Water Resistant, 688015-3 on the opposite side. Inside I find a clean and fully serviced mechanism signed Hamilton 688, Seventeen 17 Jewels, Swiss. The inside of the case lid is stamped HAMILTON WATCH CO., SWISS

This new old stock condition Hamilton has been professionally disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated so it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. Comes fitted on a new 19mm black deBeer Paris hand crafted lizard (grain) calf leather strap with steel buckle. All in all a MINT late 1960s, larger size Hamilton that is ready to be worn and enjoyed for many years to come; they don’t get any nicer or more original than this.

I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage timepiece from the Bulova firm, a long and curved men’s 10kt Yellow Gold filled PRESIDENT model that dates to 1941 and is in excellent condition with original fancy display case and instruction/guarantee booklet (brown suede covered). There were a number of President models over the years, beginning in the late 1920s and continuing on to the late 1940s. While they varied in design they all had one thing in common: being “Flagship” models and typically featuring the company’s finest wristwatch mechanism (in this case a 21 jewel, USA made example). This President model, introduced in the late 1930s, was Bulova’s answer to the Gruen Curvex, and it is very similar in design to the 311 and 335 caliber models.

Quadruple-signed (dial, crown, case twice & mechanism), it measures 45mm lug tip to lug tip and 20mm in width (22mm with Bulova-signed crown). This works out to be 1-3/4 inches long by ¾ of an inch wide, not counting the Bulova winding crown. It is powered by its original 21 Jewel, Bulova USA mechanism that has been fully serviced by my trusted (and Bulova-trained) watchmaker David, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.

The black enamel finished dial is the original that has been professionally restored to its original color. It is in excellent order. It features a gold 60 minute checkered outer track border, gold numerals, original Baton-style, gold metal hands and a separate sub- seconds dial with 60 second outer chapter and sweep gold seconds hand. Signed BULOVA below the 12.

The solid glass crystal is in excellent condition. The two-piece case is 10 Karat Yellow Gold Filled and in excellent condition, a few small scratches but NO wear or brassing, very crisp with stepped sides. If you follow my auctions at all you will know that I am a stickler for excellent cases and this one is superb. The Bulova-signed yellow gold finished winding crown is in excellent shape, winding and setting smoothly.

Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is gently curved and finely brush (satin) finished. It is in excellent – mint condition and is stamped “Bulova - 10k Gold Filled” at the edge with case number 0965897. Peeking inside I discover a clean, original Twenty One jewel manual wind movement, signed Bulova Watch Co., USA, 21 Jewels, Adjusted, [Caliber] 7AP. There is also an asterisk stamp indicating that this watch was produced in 1941. The inside case lid is stamped BULOVA, FIFTH AVE, NEW YORK.

This fully serviced (disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated by a Bulova-trained watchmaker) winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. Comes fitted with a new black calf leather strap with matching color buckle that will fit a wrist 6-1/4 to 8 inches in size. This watch will ship in its original felt lined Art Deco display case, in excellent shape, along with its brown suede covered 21 Page Instruction, Guarantee, Information Booklet, also excellent. All in all a vintage President model in excellent, ready to wear shape, thanks for taking the time to view my auction!

Founded in 1892, the Hamilton Watch Company of Lancaster, PA would not officially start its watch production until March 1894, producing pocket watches mainly of railroad grade. By 1908 Hamilton was producing a lady’s pendant watch and by 1919 a small line of wrist watches were available, but for women only! Yes, Hamilton entered the men’s wristwatch market rather late, introducing their first non-military men’s watches in November 1922, a good 10 years after Illinois, Elgin and Waltham. Well, they quickly caught up with the other American firms, producing the highest-grade American watches ever made.

I am happy to offer for sale the following vintage 1960s Hamilton timepiece, a ladies 10kt Solid White Gold model that features a total of four (4) larger size genuine diamonds of high clarity. This watch is in truly mint, all original condition, what you would call New Old Stock shape and I doubt it was worn more than a few times, if ever.

Quadruple-signed for Hamilton, it measures 33mm end to end and 15.5mm in width (17mm with original Hamilton signed crown). This converts to just over 1-1/4 inches long by 5/8 of an inch wide, not counting the Hamilton winding crown and it is fitted on black cord bracelet strap that makes the overall length 7-1/4 inches, easily adjusted shorter (or longer) by me before mailing to the winning bidder. It is powered by its original and high-grade USA made 780 caliber, 17 jewel manual wind movement, a unique yellow gold finished example, the first of this color that I have seen from Hamilton. My watchmaker David has fully serviced it just last week, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.

The 100% original ivory color, matte enamel finished dial is in flawless condition, untouched since it left the factory, my guarantee. This dial features applied silver hour markers and original Baton-style, silver steel hands. Signed HAMILTON below the12 with the company trademark above the 6.

The original oval shaped crystal is in perfect, unworn condition. The case is also flawless, a wonderful 1960s Retro Modern beauty crafted of 10 Karat Solid White Gold and featuring 4 Genuine Diamonds of high clarity that are securely set and do sparkle. Note the incised “Flame” design lugs, wonderful design work. The original Hamilton-signed white gold finished winding crown is in mint condition, operating smoothly.

Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is in flawless shape, stamped 10K GOLD and also HAMILTON. Peeking inside I find a clean barrel-form movement with fancy Geneva striping, the only yellow gold USA made ladies Hamilton mechanism I’ve seen in over 25 years of collecting. It is signed Hamilton USA, 17 Jewels [Grade] 780.. The inside of the case back is stamped HAMILTON W. CO., LANCASTER, PA, 10K GOLD with case number below.

This new old stock condition timepiece has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted with a black cord bracelet with matching color fittings that measures a total length of 7-1/4 inches. If you need the band shortened (or lengthened) just let me know and I will have it custom sized before I mail it, no charge. Well then, who is going to be the new owner of this beautiful, diamond encrusted Hamilton? My dog Carl said he wanted to wear it but I don’t trust him as he has lost the last 41 watches I have given him!

                            • Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. I treat buyers as I like to be treated: with courtesy and respect. I am especially proud of my excellent feedback and high number of repeat clients.
                            • Watch sizes: I provide exact case measurements in millimeters (the watch industry standard) and inches, and include a U.S. quarter in one photo as a size reference. Draw the measurements on paper to help visualize the watch on your wrist. Remember, watches for men made from the 1910s to 1970s were noticeably smaller than what is considered normal today.
                            • Buyers outside the United States with less than five feedback: please take a moment to introduce yourself via the eBay message system prior to bidding. Otherwise, your bid may be retracted.
