2013-14 GUIDE FOR DEVELOPING AN EXCELLENT RESUME

As you prepare your resume, it is important to remember to be truthful and accurate. Make sure you have not included any misleading or false information on your résumé. Chances are your “inaccuracies” will eventually be discovered and you’ll lose all credibility with your prospective employer.

The following guide will provide a detail outline of how your resume is to be completed. This is a (1) one page resume. A second page for references only. Center your resume. Please use the Arial type font, size 12. Use (1) one inch side, top and bottom margins. Please center and capitalize all headings. NOTE: NO ABBREVIATIONS IN YOUR RESUME.

RESUME: MUST INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:

Name: Bold in size 14. Provide your address, telephone number (s) and e-mail address.

Career Objective: This specifically identifies the title of the job you are applying for.

Qualifications: This outlines the qualifications you possess for the job. This will include your specific skills and attributes.

Education: List your education in chronological order. Make sure all degrees, certificates and diplomas are listed.

Work Experience: List your work experience in chronological order. Make sure you clearly identify the full name of the company, the job title or classification and dates of employment. Please bullet job duties: using an adjective to describe the specific assignments you performed and describe the results. List the most important assignments first.

Awards, Honors and Extra-Curricular Activities: Please list any awards, honors and extra-curricular activities you have done. If you have no awards or honors, do not list the heading (Award, Honors and Extra...).

References: Size 16 font for heading. Every one is to provide (3) three names of persons to use as a reference. Please contact three (3) individuals in advance to get permission. You must list their name, current job title, address. Please get a telephone number and area code that they can be reached at during the day. You cannot use relatives as references. No errors on your resume. Your goal is to perfect your resume. I am looking for an excellent resume. An example is attached. IMPORTANT: Set up your resume exactly like the attached. No exceptions.
