ILLUMINATIONS SWITCH ON SCRUTINY

1.0 Matter for consideration

1.1 That the Committee consider an update on the recommendations included in the Illuminations Switch On Action Plan.

2.0 Recommendation(s)

2.1 To note the update report, asking questions in relation to its content and making recommendations as appropriate.

2.2 To approve the completion of the recommendations in the Illuminations Switch On Action Plan.

3.0 Summary of key issues

3.1. The Regeneration and Tourism Overview and Scrutiny Committee selected the topic of ‘Illuminations Switch On’ as a scrutiny in October 2006, and appointed a Working Group to undertake the review.

3.2. An Action plan was formulated and agreed by the Committee which would be used to monitor improvements made to the Switch On ceremony, as detailed at Appendix 7 (a). The Director of Tourism will update the Committee on the progress to date on the Action Plan.

3.3. The Illuminations Switch On Working Group has now been established and last met on 14th January 2008. The Committee are advised that the Working Group has been appointed to monitor the future Illuminations Switch On events and therefore updates will be brought to this Committee when requested or of particular relevance.
