The Messenger “SHARING THE LOVE OF JESUS CHRIST WITH OUR CHURCH FAMILY, OUR COMMUNITY, AND OUR WORLD” VOLUME 3 ISSUE 5 AUGUST/SEPTEMBER 2010

“SUMMER TIME AND THE LIVIN’ IS EASY….”

I hope the words to that old classic song reflect the summer you’ve been Inside this Issue having so far. I know for the farmers and growers among us it’s just the opposite. For me, for the first time in about seven years this summer has 2-3 Reports/ been “easy”…no July committee meetings, no month away at Wesley Announcements Seminary trying to catch up on work that should have been done earlier 4 Upcoming Events in the year. It’s almost been a “Sabbath Summer;” time to slow down, look back and say it is good. And because of this much needed and appreciated break I’m looking forward to plans for the next church year August Calendar which begins shortly. Thankfully, God in his wisdom has provided September Calendar “little summers” throughout the year. They are called days of Sabbath rest…Sundays for we Christians. A day first of all to worship, praise and give thanks to God for our lives and for Jesus Christ the savior of the In good times or world. As you return from vacation, refreshed and ready to go again, with all of the coming activities…back to school, work, sports, meetings, bad times, etc. please remember none of these things are possible but for the grace nothing of God. Make time to acknowledge that in Sunday worship and rest. is as important to the growth of a church “On the seventh day God had finished his work of creation, so he rested as the from all his work. And God blessed the seventh day and declared it power of worship holy, because it was the day he rested from all his work of creation.” Genesis 2:2,3 (NLT) and the care of children.

If we don’t take time to fill our tanks, we’re going to run out of gas. God demonstrated that rest is appropriate and right. Jesus demonstrated this principle when he and his disciples left in a boat to get away from the crowds. Our times of rest refresh us for times of service. If it’s good enough for God, it ought to be good enough for us.

Blessings, Pastor Judy REPORTS/ANNOUNCEMENTS
