XI. LIST STRENGTHS OF SIG: Diverse and engaged group of leaders from across the country Energetic, collaborative-minded and willingness to share responsibility of action items Innovative risk-takers Willing to mentor new SIG members Supportive Professional & Personal Networking group

XII. LIST OPPORTUNITIES FOR IMPROVEMENT WITHIN SIG: (State how you are addressing these.) 1. Communication with members: Re-Vamping the Virtual Community and creating a content calendar for the rest of 2014 and 2015. 2.Communication with one another and ONS Corporate and Project staff: With ‘navigation’ being such a hot topic all over, the SIG leadership team was challenged to keep current with a couple initiatives in particular:

 ONS ONN textbook. The SIG team learned about the project well into the work and felt very much in the dark as to the content and proposed publication schedule. It is not our desire nor intent to micromanage…just to be informed so that we might plan for promotion of the product and be prepared when members ask questions.  ‘Official’ Release of ONS Core Competencies. We were not proactively informed ahead of time of the official release date, nor of plans to promote them….which are needed to properly inform our members and to leverage joint promotion with ONS. Thankfully….we did reach out to Carol DeMarco and she was extremely helpful connecting us to get the answer…and to secure our SIG a last minute opportunity to announce the release to our SIG members via a Communique prior to the ‘official’ ONS release.

PAGE 5 of 6 XIII. SIG VIRTUAL COMMUNITY – LIST HOW YOU HAVE USED YOUR SITE

Our VC Coordinator had difficulty managing the site due to time constraints and what she felt were limitations to her technology expertise. We have re-organized the effort since Congress 2014 by reorganizing to a 3 person team, with a member as lead who has experience with editing and developing communication plans. (of note, 2 are existing VC Co-coordinators, one is a new member who expressed interest in the opportunity) One member of the team is designated specifically to be a VC discussion moderator, with the hopes of leveraging current higher discussion activity throughout the year.

Plans are being made by this new team to review the site, update and streamline the categories. Projected outcomes as noted in above report.

The SIG coordinator also has admin access and has completed the VC ‘how to’ webinar, to serve as backup to the team members for contingency.
