Reports to Director of Program Services Part time - approximately 25 hours per week, not benefit eligible Status Grant funded for up to 25 weeks Salary $20 per hour
Job purpose
To assist in the planning and execution of a College & Career Center focused program and to provide the following services to teen participants: Improve employability of teen members Provide career counseling, job readiness, and job placement services Provide post-secondary education readiness and counseling services Provide activities and guidance for leadership and presentation skills Serve as college and career “mentor” to Club youth, providing individual and small group support to prepare for the future Establish, expand, and/or retain relationships with local corporate and community partners that will contribute to the program Work closely with Club and organizational leadership to ensure the success of the program
Duties and responsibilities
Build and maintain positive relationships with all Club teens Facilitate small-group programming and activities with all participants Provide individual guidance to teen members about education and career pathways, resume and cover letter writing, mock interviews, personal branding, presentation skills, leadership skills, and overall job readiness skills Plan and implement opportunities for a variety of guest speakers to attend the Club and share their education and pathway experiences Plan and implement off-site experiences for participants in a variety of settings (workplace shadows, college & trade school tours, military recruitment sites, etc.)
Qualifications
An Associate’s degree is required coupled with at least 2 years of experience in youth development working with teens. Facilitation and/or training experience is also required. Supervisory experience will be beneficial, as well as, experience creating and maintaining

Community based partnerships and collaborations. Experience researching for youth programming is a plus. Excellent communication skills are required. Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office products. Candidates should have flexibility, patience, tolerance, and a willingness to learn new related skills. Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is a plus. A PSL endorsement on a valid CT driver’s license is also a plus. This position requires a PSL endorsement within 3 months of hire to legally drive a commercial motor vehicle.
Working conditions
This position is grant driven and all program expectations must be met. Program work will be performed at Club sites and an off-site facility (Dunkin’ Donuts Park in Hartford). 80% of the role is comprised of facilitation of the program, interacting with members and coordinating with community partners. Approximately 20% is comprised of administrative tasks, planning and preparation. Special events and activities may involve a change in schedule and weekend hours.
Physical requirements
This position requires prolonged standing, some bending, twisting and reaching; as well as data entry.
Direct reports
Program Coordinator may supervise 2-5 staff or oversee community partners.
