GENERAL INFORMATION DOGS MUST BE LEASHED AT ALL TIMES, PLEASE!!!

Next, print a copy, sign the bottom, include it with your pony’s coggins (current through July 3, 2011), MGAA Medical Release (required for minors) and entry fees payable to MGAA, and mail it to Lisa Winkler, 27 Balsam Rd, Hyde Park, NY 12538. The entry is not complete until Lisa receives payment and all paperwork. ALL entries must be postmarked by June 1, 2011 and fully completed or they will be considered late and a $50 late fee will be assessed. A completed entry includes entry form, signed rider release, medical release, coggins and payment in full. No exceptions.

 Arrival Check-in: Upon arrival please enter through gate 7. You will be directed to the check in booth where pony’s traveling from outside of the state of New Jersey will be asked to present health certificates. Riders will receive their welcome packet, and be directed to their stall assignment.

 Rider Briefing: The rider briefing will be held at 6:00PM on Thursday evening. All teams must have a minimum of one representative present during the briefing. Session 1 heat placement will be drawn for divisions with multiple heats at that time.

 MGAA Policy on Underage use of Alcohol: As stated in the MGAA 2010 Rulebook: GR18.1 Anyone under the age of 21 years at any MGAA activity who is found to be consuming alcoholic beverages will be required to leave the event immediately. In addition, anyone found to be supplying alcohol or purchasing alcohol for an underage person will be required to leave the event immediately. If the MGAA activity is a competition, the offender will be removed from his/her team and will not be permitted to continue riding. This MGAA Policy on Underage Use of Alcohol will apply to every MGAA activity, whether it be a clinic, a competition or any other type of gather. This policy will be enforced and all riders entering this competition have agreed to abide it.

 Team Attire: All teams must wear matching or like colored shirts. No rider is allowed to wear tank tops or sports bras as team apparel during the competition heats or finals. All teams must bring a white hat band for use by their 4th rider in every race. White helmet covers are not acceptable.

 Bitting and Tack: Please refer to the MGAA Rulebook, which is available for free on the MGAA website, www.mountedgames.org for all rules regarding bits and tack.

 Tie-Breakers: Ties for placement into preliminary heats 2, 3 and 4 will be determined by the number of 1st place finishes in preceding sessions. Any ties that affect placement into the Final Heat will be determined by the running of a tie breaker race. Any ties affecting the final placement results at the end of the competition will also be broken by a tie-breaker race. In all instances the tie-breaker race will be Flag Fliers.

 Heat Sorting: For divisions having multiple heats, placement into Session 1 will be determined by a drawing by the teams held during the rider briefing scheduled for Thursday evening. Sorting into heats for sessions 2, 3 and 4 will be determined in the traditional fashion. If an uneven amount of teams participate and uneven heats occur, sorting into heats will be determined by the traditional method and assisted by a formula to prevent any team from continually being placed in a short or long heat.

 Vet/Jogs: There will be a three hour window Friday and Sunday mornings for all ponies to jog for a vet. All divisions, heats, and/or teams will be assigned a jog time. All ponies must jog during their assigned slot, but any team member, friend, or family member may bring a pony to jog if the rider is unavailable. Ponies that do not jog will not be permitted to compete. If the vet determines your pony is unsound or unfit to continue, this pony will not be allowed to continue in the competition. The vet will be on call for the remainder of the day but not on grounds. MGAA is paying for the vet’s time on grounds and to have the on-call status, but any additional services or treatments are the financial responsibility of the pony’s owner. Please contact East Coast Equine Veterinary Services at 908-852-1300 if you need to see a vet.

 Rider Ring Crew Assignments: Riders assisting in the ring when they are not riding is imperative to the operation of a mounted games event. All riders will be required to help out with equipment or other tasks and will be assigned specific times. All team members are required to show up during their assigned shifts. If a team is considered to have missed their shift; they will be deducted 5 points from their next session.

 Volunteers: To host a successful MGAA Nationals event, we need the help of many dedicated and hardworking volunteers. To ensure that no volunteer is over worked, Stacey Calhoun, as head of Volunteer Coordination, will be assigning tasks and setting the volunteer schedule. Please contact Stacey with the tasks with which you can help out and the times you are available. Email her at [email protected].

 Stabling: Stalls are a flat rate of $70 for the duration of the event. Stalls come with 2 bags of shavings. You DO NOT need to strip stalls at the end of the competition.

 Portable Paddocks: If you prefer to keep your pony in a portable paddock, provided and maintained by you, please select this option on the entry form. It is a $60 flat rate and does not include shavings. You are responsible for fully maintaining the structure and security of your pony while it is in the paddock and must remove all traces of the enclosure upon departure.
